Most the time I camp and ride the ATV in the same place but on a couple occasions it would have been nice to be able to transport my ATV to another area. Most the time its not feasible to pack up the toy hauler just to transport the ATV. Has anyone came up with a slick solution for this?I have been looking at the Harbor Freight 4x8 folding trailer thinking that it would set against my ramp door inside the hauler for transport then rolled out of the trailer and unfolded for use.I have a bumper pull trailer and a short box Ram pickup so I could do something in the pickup box but I hate to loose my bed cover as well as the dry secure storage in the bed plus the Can-Am Outlander Max is close to 8 foot long so it would be a tight fit in a short box.

I used to flat tow my mini buggies from the campground to the staging area using a draw bar. Technically not legal, but it was only 5 miles on 30 mph roads.

My ATV is street legal in Utah and Arizona so I should be legal as well. I can't find any info on flat towing the ATV so I'm not sure if I need to worry about damaging it.

I've seen racks in short bed trucks that raise the front wheels over the cab of the pickup to transport ATVs. Also seen Quads standing up vertically in a shortbed for transport.

the HB freight fold up trailers are a good bang for the buck for short distances. Look at Mad Ramps. Not cheap but would probable fit the bill. Can also weld up an extension that would fit in the receiver to extend the bed.How wide is the Outlander Max? Will it fit width wise in the bed. I know with my RZRs it fits but rubs the bed rails.

My buggies used a locked rear but were only 2wd - Had no problems other than tire wear on the road. Most of my towing was for only a few miles and some of that was on gravel. If you can disable 4wd so the front wheels spin free, I don't see a problem for short durations at slow speeds.

The Max is a 48" 2 up ATV so it should squeeze between the wheel wells on the pickup. My biggest concern is being able to secure the pickup box when I am not around as I have truck stuff as well a a chainsaw in the bed most of the time. I could get a tool box for the bed but I do like my folding tonneau cover which keeps stuff dry and secure when we are road tripping without the trailer.

The Mad Ramps do look cool.

I have the same quad. Why not just load it into the back of the truck? I don't understand the issue???

Well as I stated I have a fold up bed cover which would need removed then there is the 2 foot of stuff setting against the front bed rail that I would have to remove. I don't want to have to remove all the stuff and leave it laying around the camp site. I'm not one of them guys that runs around the woods without chains, tow straps, shovel, axe, fluids, air compressor or floor jack. I never go anywhere without my chainsaw to boot.

So if I was to load it in the back of the pickup the rear ATV tires would barely be on the tailgate. I know they make support straps for the tailgate but I just don't see how 500+ pounds bouncing around on the rear edge of the tailgate could be good for it.

Check out the Idaho Tote. Personally, I have used my 8'pickups to haul various quads, including a 2-up CanAm since 1987.
