Hurricane Prep

If you must ride it out, you can put cables over the top with chafing guards. We anchored trailers this way where I used to work. But if your roof leaks, don't blame me. Do not tighten the turnbuckles too much.

We are on the outer banks right now, it appears it will miss us, however we may still run.

I'm sure you are right about the gridlock and it may be too late to move the RV w/o great difficulty. But others seem to be trying. Hope that at least one of your homes is still usable after the storm so you have a place to live. With two major storms affecting many tens of thousands of homes, the availability and price of Sheetrock, kitchen cabinets, countertops, etc and the labor to make repairs will be a big factor in recovery time. Same with replacement RVs. Just like there is price gouging before the storm, fast recovery will likely cost more than insurance payouts. Some people won't be whole for years.

Our 5er is in storage about 6 blocks away we are moving it back to our driveway, within the next two weeks. this is our earthquake living area. If we were living back in Fla. We would have all ready left. I have lived through 2 hurricanes as a child. Only a DAMM fool will ride one out. Stupid should be Painful. If I insulted any one To bad. Earth quakes hit with no warning. and all you can do is hang on and pray. I learned In two rockers San Fernando, and Northridge. We now prepare with 3 weeks food and water.

We live 1 block from the beach in St Augustine, FL. The fiver is parked at our house. its going to stay right where its parked now just as I always park it. Not anything I can do.

No complaints anymore. Our climate is quite benign by comparison. When the remnants of Harvey passed over us, we had drizzle for a day.

It's now a cat 5 WITH 185 mph winds... strongest, largest to ever form in the Atlantis Basin...

There are some on tv saying they are staying. They were buying up what looked like osb 7/16". All the 1/4" selection was probably gone. lol Others said they bought a bunch of bottled water. They're all set.

It's great to be insured and all but I couldn't live that way. They must be great at remodeling with skills handed down over generations! :)


When I visit my son in Tx I cant help but picture a reinforced tornado shelter in the yard.

You certainly don't want to be IN the trailer riding out the storm! If you decide to stay in your home, take the trailer to a safe location far enough away, then return home. If the storm destroys your house and you survive, you can always go retrieve the trailer to live in.
