In the bed harness connection

mine is the same, but when plugged in, neither connector works!..
if I slightly turn the harness side, and hold it with 2 hands, then both connectors will work..

the stock connector by itself works every time.

Thanks all, mounted it about a foot from the tailgate as high as I could get it, which was only 10".

Just drop the tailgate

X2 - like George H's.....works fine for me, no problems reaching over the truck side wall, nor reaching in from the back...as I usually don't have the tailgate on.

Remember that when you have the 5th wheel hooked up it could be difficult to reach over the side of the bed to connect the plug with the 5th wheel in the way. The distance between the bed rail and the 5th wheel may limit the ease of accessibility.

Each truck is different, but they all seem to have a perfect spot to drill the hole for the connection but drivers side mid or higher depending on clearance between the bed and the fender within reach from the tailgate is the best location.

Thankfully with the use of a standard OEM connector now they just have a T off the one at the bumper and it supplies the bed side one. The bed outlet also is OEM style connector on the back of it so if you do damage the plug they are not all that expensive to hard to replace.

All the way back and as high up as possible on the drivers side. Keeps from being damaged hauling loads.
