Interstate speeds

I used to pretty much haul ass with my truck camper but noticed that I was always passing up 5th wheelers. What's your recommended interstate speed. Is 75MPH ok? My 3500 Dodge seems to like 65-70 when pulling this 39ft TH.

I pull at 70. If I need to speed up to pass I will, but 70' is pretty reasonable. Of course in Oklahoma the 2 lanes are set at 65, but toll road is 75 and normal interstate 70.
I hope you guys who run 55-60 on two lanes with higher speed limits are pulling over to let backed up traffic go on by.

65mph is the lowest speed my truck will shift to 6th and lock up. The cruise is fairly responsive at that speed too.

If I have to spin up to 80 to clear some traffic, I will.

Fuel 'economy' is c**p at any speed.

Most of places I tow have a 55 or 60 mph limit to which I adhere. In locations where the speed limit is more than 65 mph, I keep my speed at 65 but may let it build up to 70 on a gentle downgrade if the road is straight. My tires are rated for 65 mph but are one load range higher than required, so I do not have a problem rolling a little faster on occasion but never for an extended period.

At higher speeds, I do hold top gear longer on climbs at the expense of fuel mileage. I averaged 8 mpg in UT, CO, NM and AZ at 65 mph through some higher elevation climbs with winds but can get 10 mpg when driving similar between 55-60 mph. I have pretty low gearing and a large draft, so keeping speeds down may make more of difference than what others see.

I usually just set my cruise control at 62 MPH when I can or just use my foot to control my speed depending on the terrain and traffic. I've had a few blow outs and I'm glad I wasn't going any faster!!

Count me in for 58 to 62 speed limit permitting. Have GY Endurance on the trailer and GY All Terrain on the truck.

Goodyear Endurance rated 87mph on the camper.

Long open roads with little or no traffic = cruising speeds 70-80mph is fine for me as my rig is setup for it.

The tires on my new RV are rated at 75mph but I still prefer to be around 65, maybe up close to 70 to pass, but no faster. As I've mentioned before, there is no place I have to be to drive crazy fast with my TV and RV even if others are passing me. I'll get there, you might have a beer drank before I get there but I usually can catch up!! Lol!

X2 except for the catching up, us gasser's seem to lose a bit on the steep hills. I used to 'think' I had somewhere to be in a hurry, and have the tickets to prove it-- not worth it these days.

Enjoy!

My Goodyear Marathons are rated at a max of 65 mph so I try to limit my speed to 65.

I used to drive pretty fast in my older setup (2004.5 RAM 2500 & FS2600 toy hauler). Now with this bigger setup, I just set the cruise control to 59 or 60 and take my time.

A friend used to haul but every where he went pulling his fifth wheel and we would always do below 65 and just arrive a couple of minutes after him. I asked him why such a rush and if he was scared of causing a blowout because of speed.
He would only laugh about it TILL while pulling at 75mph a tire blew out and took his kitchen out with it. Tire store blamed the blowout on excessive speed and because he did not have camper insurance it hit him for almost 5k in repairs. Now he tows at the same speed as I do. Some people have to learned the hard way I guess!
