Johnson Valley for New Years

Does anyone know if Johnson Valley is still open? I thought the Marines were closing part of the riding area. Would be parking along Camp Rock Road section.

Hi , On Friday I was out at cougar Buttes and rode to Soggy Dry Lake everything was open an looked "normal". Great weather , not so many people , Soggy was half full of water , it was quite beautiful. i wish we cold have stayed longer. Go enjoy. happy New Year!

We have been going through hell putting on our events ever since the MDR tragedy. Including a large increase in fees and durations for permit approvals. Basically our clubs apply for their event 364 days in advance.

Not feasible to fix either, that's bedrock showing through I think. I usually use the road off to the west, it can get a little soft in places but never too bad.

yep, keeps the riff raff out! Boone/Means drylake is not too bad since they put in the bridge over the riverbed.

Enjoy it while you can! We'll have about 1/3 of it for 12 months a year and 1/2 for ten months.

Just Googled it and it looks like they're open. Call the BLM - Barstow office at 760-252-6000.
