Just wondering

I am a Ram guy, but if I were looking at Fords, it would be the 450. That wide front axle is awesome. It allows much tighter turning than your standard 1 ton.

I would also think that you could register it down to 1 ton on the plates. At least in IL I think you can do that.

If Ram had the 4500 with the pickup bed I would be driving one of them right now. Ford saw the market for that and got that part right.

You are right, I priced out the exact same truck and options. 450 was $2747 more than the 350.

go right to the f450, it doesn't ride any rougher than the f350 imo. get the wheel balancers for it, they help a lot https://www.centramatic.com/centramatic-balancing-rings-on-a-F450.rhtml you will have the better brakes, betterturning radius and better payload from the f450 drw vs the f350. i have seen some nice f450's for the same money as the f350's just fewer options.

Newer F350 will have plenty of tow capacity/rating to tow about any big 5er out there.
F450 is quite a step up in price.

Ford F-350 is plenty of truck to pull the Momentum.

Both will do the job. Larger brakes on 450,insurance may be higher,taxes ,etc,however the wide track front end is THE most important asset when backing in to Bolsa Chica or any parking lot style campground.My understanding it is not available on 350 anymore. Hope I'm wrong but dealer said none around.To me the steering radius is the deal breaker when I boondock. I'm also the only one I know with a 3 ft skid plate on the rear of 5th !

After 9 years of driving F450's, it is amazing the places you can put them in with better turning radius. Having said that the Property tax in SC is bad on the new 2019 F450, almost $2,750. This is caused by the classification of the truck.

The weight on DRV Fullhouse JX450 loaded is close to 24k ish, 21,500 dry weight, the Ford F450 is a beast for towing. It takes a 2+% grade before the truck even downshifts at 65 mph. It also looks like I am getting 8.7 mpg at 65 mph.
