K-Z Escalade

I thought I knew all about 5ers, but daughter is looking at a cherry K-Z Escalade and I've never heard of it. 2005. Any comments? I think it is I-beam over tubular frame (14" maybe), 16000 lb GVWR with G614 tires, not sure if walls are hung or laminate. Quite impressive coach that slipped by my life journey.
  • I was shopping in 2007 and looked at an Escalade (new one) and was really turned off by the shoddy workmanship at the price of $100,000 at that time! Plumbing to washer/dryer closet was just hanging like wet noodles.
  • We had one. Running gear except springs changed under warranty as it was completely worn out. Bed room slide leaked and caused $2600 damage. Fixed on my nickel. Kitchen and living room slide lost all (12 volt & 120) power as wiring came loose from anchor and tore out when slide was used. Fixed under warranty. The are good to honor their warranty. We really liked the unit but we're also glad we got out when we did.
  • They were hung walls... 18" frame-Ibeam over tube construction.. They were the big brother to my old 08 KZ Montego Bay.. Great fifth wheels.... Yes, Lippert was the frame , but built to KZ specs..my buddy had an 07 Escalade, he now has an Enterga. I would never think twice in telling someone to look at that era KZ . . Just check the roof real well...... There was a few years they had water wicking problems , I do believe they were after 04-05?
  • I was, but the DP was on our bucket list. I now have a Cummins in the front and a Cummins in the back, and if that ain't enough a little Daimler Chrysler on the tow to give it a push :)

Looks like hung walls on the K-Z, and 18" combo frame of 10" I-beam over 8" tubular. Wonder if it was Lippert.
  • Friends of ours have one. They have full timed in it for at least 6 years. Only problem was the springs were not HD enough and caused the RV to list and cause a blowout and several $$$ damage.

Other than that it has been a great RV. NICE quality.

What the heck???? I thought you were a 5er guy.
