KZ Sportsmen sportser

Hi, I am brand new to the forum. I just sold my travel trailer and am in the process of looking for a toy hauler. I am considering a used trailer to stay on budget. I have found a 2008 KZ Sportsmen Sportser 30SB in mint condition. It is a triple axle bumper pull. Although the trailer is a few years older than I was originally considering it is in great shape and a price I can easily afford. I have been searching for reviews and detailed specifications on the trailer build with limited successfully. Does anyone have experience with these trailers who can comment on build quaint and reliability. I appreciate any input. Thanks
  • Thanks all. Now I am seeing if I can make a deal with the seller.

I owned a 2002 Sportsmen and now a 2013 KZ Durango. Not an issue with either

Bad reviews aside, as I'll be the first to let Forest River have it on a moments notice, I had good luck with two prior Thor products. Your KZ is a Thor product. Thor acquired KZ in 2014.
  • Murch... We bought a 2005 KZ Sportsmen Sportster 33P fifth wheel 6 years ago and have been very happy with it. Only problem we have had were tires but all manufacturers have had tire issues due to the heavy nature of toy haulers. I would recommend upgrading tires upon buying. Sailun S637's are what we have and have been happy. Good luck and keep us posted.

  • I had a 2008 KZ Spree. The build quality was average. The drawer slides were not good quality. The plastic ends had a tendency to crack. Our trailer had a variety of leak issues. We had a rear slide which leaked. I replaced the gasket surrounding the slide. Inspect the windows carefully. Ours sagged over time. Look above the windows on the outside, especially at the corners. If It looks like the butyl (caulk) has shrunk back, the window has probably sagged and either has or will be leaking. Resetting them isn't too hard. You will need new butyl and a plastic scraper. I added some shims made from pvc trim underneath to prevent future sagging. We also had a leak from a split filler tube for the fresh water tank.
Be sure to get on the roof and check for soft spots. Do some thumping and check the sealant.
Hope this helps in giving you some ideas on some additional places to inspect. Good luck!

  • I bought a KZ 8 months ago; So far so good. Not a top-of-the-line brand but it's okay; Used it about 10 times so far and have had no problems. I would buy this brand again.
