Landing Gear

I'm having trouble with my landing gear. Sounded really bad when I disconnected this time and crossing my fingers they work tomorrow when I attempt to hook up.
I am thinking about replacing both legs as I think that is where the problem lies. Both motors seem to work okay, but slow. I feel as if the gears are just binding.
Would like to replace the legs with the same ones from Venture.
Anyone have any thoughts or advice on this? Does anyone know how to manually work these? Manual is very poor, with no pics and very little info.
Thanks for your help, Dave
  • When one of mine died I simply used my bottle jack to support the bad side. Venture are great people to work with. Fast service.
  • When my landing gear went bad and ran slow, it was the nut on the jack shaft that was seizing up. When I took it apart it was a brass or bronze nut. No way to fixy fixy. Time for new landing leg.
  • Why replace a known bad system with a system just like it? Mine went bad and I've got the Bulldog to replace them. More expensive, but a stronger system, and they come with a 5 year warranty, .
  • Or try the ULTRAFAB dual landing jacks. Faster and more powerful than the OEM Venture legs I had. I think they're less expensive than the Bulldogs.
I did have to cut one mounting bracket on the ULTRAFAB legs down 1/8" to fit my trailer's existing brackets. Also, the ULTRAFAB leg holes were bigger than my OEM leg holes so I could NOT re-use the spring pins and had to get the bigger size.
  • Ok, I don't understand how this system works, mine has hydraulics and the bulldog does not? I don't want to have to replace anything I don't have to, hoping that just replacing the legs would fix the problem. Any help is appreciated, thanks, Dave
  • Okay, I don't understand how your system works either. You said "Both motors seem to work okay, but slow.", and I thought you were referring to electric.

The Bulldog and UltraFab are both electric. I've had good luck with hydraulic so I have no experience with replacing parts on them.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding.
  • Sorry, I'm confused. I have electric motors to run the landing gear, it is not hydraulic. I would like to use the motors I have and just replace the legs, but maybe replacing the whole thing is the best idea. Dave
