I went to hook up today and when I went to use the switch to raise and lower my landing gear it did not work. No hum, nothing. I go the remote that came with my trailer and that worked which allowed me to raise and lower the legs. To me, it sounds like the switch is bad. I took off the switch and there are 8 wires going to 6 terminals...two of them have tow wires linked together. Anyone know how I can check my switch. I tried making a jumper out of a piece of wire but it did not work. Any ideas, suggestions, etc? Thanks

Yeah, you may need somebody more experienced to check things out for you. What you need is to see if you have voltage/electricity at the proper connections.

I replaced my landing gear switch today. The new switch came with a 30a in-line fuse. The switch I replaced was not wired with circuit protection to the main battery bus. There are many other wires that also feed off the main bus. In the automotive world this type of wiring would not be at all acceptable. How is it that RIVA standards allow for so many unprotected circuits? If anyone knows, please share what the heck they are thinking. Should we be installing something like this: Fusible Link

Wow,'almost in the same boat! ??
Went to raise the nose to hook up to move to a different host site and no up! Played with the switch a bit and it started working??
I will check out a new switch this month.

Did you check for electricity at the switch using a VOM? That would tell you if your switch is bad, or the problem is upstream of the switch.

Mine has a 30 amp fuse in line and the switch says 40 amps but it still did not work.
Can't figure out why the remote works on the legs but not the button. And I just used it last week. I guess at the end of the season I will have to take it to a repair place. Any other ideas?

Don't try to go too cheap on the switch. Make sure it will handle the amperage. Like donn0128 says, there's a lot of amps running through that switch.

Thanks all. I found and $8 switch at Camping World. I will try it. I am going to see about tracking down the ground on the other side (leg that is not near the switch). I don't think it was loose though. It was a bugger to get off. Thanks for all the input.

I had the same problem a few years ago. Took the switch out, ended up being a loose connector. Checked all the wires and crimped them a little tighter and no more issues.

check the self resetting breaker too. I just had mine go out last fall. Not sure really how they're wired and if some are different but I noticed mine though my lights too when on the batteries. My lights would flash off.

That switch cost me $7.96 at a local rv repair shop. Mine quit in the down mode only. Easy to replace too.

Center is 12+/- the switch reverses polarity so a VOM should show you easily enough. There is a lot of amps through it so failure is pretty common.
