Let's talk about tire gauges

When I was farming all those years I had gauges every where. I was shocked how bad some were off. I had one that was very expensive and it was not even close. I have one thats digital from Radio Shack that is more accurate then most. I still keep a truck type gauge handy.

Just ordered a Milton S-934. Looks like a nice quality gauge. I prefer a dial style gauge over the "pencil" style. Hopefully the quality will be comparable.

On edit - These gauges should not be confused with all the other cheap pencil style gauges. These things are heavy duty - I would not want someone to hit me over the head with one.

I agree. That's why the majority of OTR truckers use them.

x2 Milton is quality, American made product. And not overly expensive.

They are good. Bottom line stick with a quality American Made gauge.

I bought a digital gauge at Tractor Supply and compared it to a manual dial gauge. At 125 it read 123 so I think it's close enough. It's not so much how accurate but the repeatability, you want it to be the same amount each time you use it. If it's always off by 2 at a given PSI, then that's what you want, not 5 one time, 2 next time and -5 next time.

I use a Slime dial . The same one bpounds linked. Works great.

I have a Slime Digital Tire Presta Valve Pressure Gauge that can be found on Amazon.

It is good for 150 psi.

I have another digital that I got at Wall Mart. Both gauges were in the $15 range.


As for accuracy both of the digitals read within 1 psi of each other.

They also read within 1 psi of my previous Pressure Pro TPMS system and my now new TST TPMS system.

That is four different devices reading within 1 psi. I can only assume they are right on.

I use several... A Milton dial type guage on an 18 inch hose and also a Milton inflator/guage type on a hose.The guage I keep in the dually is a Dill brand truck service type with a dual foot and a calibration screw on the end.All these are top quality and used by commercial tire men on a daily basis.

Check out your local tire equipment supply company for the these precision instruments and other tire related equipment... Kid in a candy store effect.
