Maiden Voyage

The weather finally cooperated and we were able to take our new Grand Design Reflection 303RLS out for the maiden voyage, staying at the Virginia Beach Holiday Travl Park about 15 miles from home (camp driveway is not an option for us). We had 70s for the first day of putting all the stuff from our previous 5er in the unit then setting up, putting down shelf liner, and finding a spot, at least temporarily, for everything. The next day was 80 so we took a walk on the boardwalk. That night got into the 40s with a pounding rain, so we had a good leak test and furnace test.

We really like the Reflection.

The coax cable coming in the back side window is temporary to the 2M antenna on the ladder. The antenna comes off for travel.

On edit - we get to the oceanfront, there were surfers at the 16th street pier

If son is still Active Duty on his return, might I suggest Dam Neck, about 10 minutes east of your present location. Military FamCamp is about 2 years old, AWESOME, and a 2 minute slow walk to the beach.

OP here. Yes, that is Molly. She is a SEVA GRREAT rescue.

Yes that is one of the super sites at VB Holiday Travl Park. Having looked at the other sites, I would definitely pick the super sites, although they are expensive. Your other choices are First Landing State Park (no sewer) or one of the military campgrounds (perhaps your son could sponsor you).

WyoTraveler - please send us a link to the ladder mounts that you used. We use the ICOM 706 with an AH-4 tuner. The VHF antenna is a JPole in a PVC pipe supported by a split T attached as a saddle on the top of the ladder. DH made PVC brackets for the ladder that hold a 33' fiberglass push up pole. We have to spend some time in the trailer to determine where we want to run the coax (read that as where I let DH put holes in new camper!). N4XYZ and KE4TCH.

I bought a couple of ladder mounts. One for HF and one for VHF. Ran about $35 each. I ran my coax under the coach.I use the Icom 706 and LDG IT-100 auto tuner.
