Met a tree, tree won !!!

Convinced myself I'd never do it, but I did. Backing up into position, decided to pull forward to straighten up and introduced 5er roof to unfriendly tree branch.
Damage ..... 2 vent tube caps popped off, toilet compartment opening vent pushed in, Self seeking sat dish now sporting a lovely rippled effect. Finally a severely damaged ego.
As we always say, could be a lot worse, at least nobody was hurt

  • The group I mountain bike with have a saying. "Tree's have the right of way" How true it is.
  • r-N-s,

Stay in the middle of your lane and don't try to "shave" the corners and you will be fine. It sounds like the guy found his problem on the Parkway. I wouldn't take the trailer on that section of the BRP on a bet. Just not worth it.

I was driving my truck through the Smoky Mtn road and rounded a corner and there was a piece of the fridge vent laying in the middle of the road. SO I stopped and picked it up and thru it in the back of the truck. Went down alittle farther and there was a batwing antenna all mangled up laying in the road so grabbed that as well and thru that in the back of the truck.

Father down the road I see this RV sitting in one of the short pull-outs and the guy was walking around his trailer looking at the roof. I stopped and grabbed the two pieces I had in my truck and asked him if he was looking for these hehe... He said I though I might have gotten too close to the overhang going around a couple of the sharp corners... He said he didn't remember if he had cranked down the antenna or not haha... I think it was still UP...

Was this the road that runs from Knoxville TN to Columbia SC. Down rte 40 between the Smokies and Cherokee National Forest? I'm headed that route next month in a tall fiver.

  • we all have those moments tailgate doing a pull test for me
  • Don't feel too badly Mark. Your ego will recover. If it will help, I can tell you all about how it took me two tries to get the hole in the bed of my truck that matches the pin on the trailer.

  • Thanks for sharing, it serves as a good reminder to all of us....
  • Frustrating. I pulled into an RV space that was tight. Misssed the tree by couple of inches at top of MH. The tree was leaning slightly and looked like I had lots of room. I was lucky on that one.
