Montana 3791 vs. Jayco North Point 387rdfs

We are shopping for a new 2018 5th wheel and love the rear den floorplan. At the top of my list are the Montana 3791 and the North Point 387rdfs. I am leaning toward the North Point for a couple of reasons. 1) the Jayco dealer is 30 miles vs. the Montana dealer 100 miles away. 2) the North Point has the Goodyear "Beast" tires and I am not sure what brand comes on the Montana.

I have not seen the Montana in person, but walked through a North Point yesterday. Looking online, I love the slide out tray on the Montana as well as the wide body.

I would love some opinions and feedback from members who own these models to help me make a decision.

We purchased a 2018 3791 Montana about 2 weeks ago and so far we love it. i have only found small items which i can easily take care of that are wrong. The one irritating thing is that the Dish VIP receiver wont work on the coach wiring. Others have told me they have replaced coax connectors and tees with higher quality stuff and it works. It is just as much a Dish problem as a Montana problem as Dish has other receivers that do work. All in all I am very happy with our Montana.

The wide body Grand Design Solitude 375RES has opposing living room slides that can BOTH be deployed at same time. It also has the sliding MOR/Ryde tray in the rear basement for easy access.

Due to wider slides, I assume, not a wider body. Either way, I guess that counts as "wider."

Where did you see that the Montana 3791 is wide body? Pretty sure itโ€™s same width as North Point at 8โ€™.

Jayco Pinnacle is wide body.

It's in their videos as they can claim that they have tow opposing couches that both let down into beds and can be deployed at the same time. Claim to be the only one in the industry with that feature.

While not a big fan of Schwintec myself, our Big Country has it---and so far so good. Cedar Creek used it for a year or 2 as well. I will tip my hat to the Montana line overall as they always seem to come up w/ something new/different than everyone else, then everyone else copies them. Just not a big fan of their quality. Cedar Creek/Silverback was high on our list even tho we saw flaws in them. Owned a Silverback before the BC. Then DW went inside the BC and that's the end of that. Not saying the BC doesn't have a couple flaws, but offered more of what we wanted VS CC.

Actually saw a Northpoint at Syracuse show and liked it. But that's why you look at many before deciding on 1.

I took a hard look at Jayco before I bought my Cedar Creek. I did not like the troublesome Schwintec slide mechanisms and the cheaper and slower, electric jacks. Jayco was great rig but in my opinion they have really gone downhill in recent years. Don't worry about where the dealer is located. If you buy the right trailer you won't need them, besides what if it gives you trouble on the road? There are lots of mobile repair services that can fix it with pre-approval from your factory.

We also like the rear elevated den floor plan. We bought the Grand Design Solitude 375RES last September. It has superior underneath storage in the rear and it's a wide body coach. Customer care before, during, and after the sale has been superb!

I uncorrect my correction. The Pinnicales main A/C is Whisper quite ut both the second and third A/C's are bot per the 2018 brochure.

It's a little tricky, the 15k Whisper Quiet in the bedroom is buried in one of the "mandatory" option packages, the Pinnacle Luxury Package:

12" Magnum Frame System, Magnum XL6 Truss System, MOR Ryde Step-Above Entry Steps, Bedroom 15K Whisper Quiet AC, 6 pt. Electric Auto Leveling System,

Also, see 12:18 in this video for example:

To each their own. I actually thought the opposite. Montana is still using gold, brown, and beige colors on *everything,* straight out of the 1980s, very dated.

Actually, the ones I saw had a different pallet,.. light colors.. greys and whites (of varying shades).

It wasn't a catalog.. actual display. Believe it was this model

We like the Pinnacles and would have purchased one but they do not use hydraulics for there landing gear or leveling systems. Another turn off was the A/C's were exposed on the ceiling. We prefer the newer and quieter enclosed systems. Our next unit will either be a Cardinal or Vanleigh.

Pretty sure both the North Point and the Pinnacle both currently use whisper quiet (hidden AC) in living rooms and Pinnacle also has whisper quiet in bedrooms.

I stand corrected on the A/C on current models. We looked in 2016 and they were not using Whisper Quiet A/C system then.

Got a recall (fire extinguisher) yesterday from Thor industries for our 2014 Keystone Alpine. When you buy a Keystone Montana it is a Thor. Be warned or aware???

Thor owns Airstream, Crossroads RV, Cruiser RV, DRV (Mobile Suites), Dutchmen, Entegra Coach, Heartland RV, Highland Ridge, Jayco, Keystone, KZ, Redwood RV, Starcraft RV, Thor Motorcoach, and Venture RV. Sorta narrows your choices if you have a problem with Thor.
