Mor/Ryde pin box

I have new 35' Bighorn that came with the Mor/Ryde pin box from the factory. I also have a Hensley BD3 air hitch in my truck. The Mor/Ryde system surrounds and isolates the king pin with a large square rubber 'doughnut'. That doughnut soaks up the fore and aft chucking and the air hitch takes care of all the up and down stuff - chuck holes, bad pavement, expansion seams, etc. In general, an air compressor is not needed after you get the BD3 hitch adjusted. You just air up the hitch one time as the manual states and then make adjustments up or down based on your comfort level. Hensley says you can do it with any air pump, even a small one. I always carry a small one anyway in case I have a low tire.

I really like this combination. And the BD3 disassembles into 2 or 3 components if you want to remove it when not towing.

I was trying to point that out, but as usual it falls on deaf ears, and mostly on the one's that have never towed a Mor/Ryde suspension with the Mor/Ryde pin box, night, and day difference to the conventional set up. Maybe the heavier fifth wheels require those air bag hitches, and pin boxes, but in the op's case the Mor/Ryde will get it done nicely.

I have a 3400RL Montana with the morRyde pin box (came with the rig), along with the B&W Fifthwheel companion hitch, towing with a GMC 2500HD Duramax/Allison. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't change anything. Been to Tucson and back and compared to the previous year when I towed a Jayco31RKS on the same route without the morRyde system well let me just say there is no comparison. MorRyde wins hands down. I have no opinion on the trailair system.

Have a Carriage Cameo with More-ride. Love it. It was installed by the factory in my case. My previous 5er had a hitch that did not give when driving and there is a marked difference. Don't even know the RV is back there in most cases.

I towed 2 years without the Mor/Ryde. I added it early this year. It dramatically reduced the chucking & banging. I'm very happy with the purchase. It is very easy to install but you may need help lifting it into place.

If you want something that will actually help with a larger RV install a Trail Air air ride pin box with a Tri glide.

The Mor/Ryde does what the TriGlide does and that is it. The air ride pin box has a big Firestone air bag that cushions the impact from the RV on the Tow Vehicle.

Well worth the money!

I also have the TrailAir pin box with the TrailAir TriGlide. Works good. I have a 20K Reese 5th wheel hitch.

I retro fitted (see sig) A Demco Glide Ride hitch pin box myself and it works like the video shown on their home page. No air bags therefore no air adjustment etc, Just hook up and go. Would I do it again? A POSITIVE YES!

Too much clunking and banging for me with that Tri-Glide sliding back and forth. Bottom line is if you have a problem with chucking (front to back motion) go with a Mor Ryde. If you have a problem with riding rough a air ride pin box would help. Yes you can easily install either by yourself. Just set it on some blocks on the end of your tailgate and raise or lower you trailer to line up the holes. No lifting other than to set it on the truck. Shop online you can save a heap over the typical dealer price...

I would agree about skipping the TriGlide. I added one last summer to the factory TrailAir kingpin. It does help some, I actually really did not need one.

As far as the clunking, I had some also but after I changed from the marginal factory brake controller to the MaxBrake the clunking is gone!

If someone wanted to buy my TriGlide I would sell it.

I think the up and down impact that is greatly reduced with the TrailAir air bag king pin makes it a great option for any larger 5er.
