I just installed a Mor/Ryde RPB72-1621HD-03 pin box and it hasn't cured the chucking nor the start-stop crunch. The trailer is a 2012 Rockwood 8280WS 5th wheel with a empty weight of 7,503 pounds, a max weight of 9,134 pounds with a typical load under 8,500 pounds. I tow with a 2012 Ford F-250 Super Duty with less than 5,400 miles (I don't believe the truck is the issue). The 03 pin box is the lowest rated max trailer weight per the manufactures chart shown as 11,500 pounds. I think that the manufacture wasn't prepared for the new ultra lite 5th wheel trailers and that the shear spring in the box is to heavy for the light weight. Other than the manufacture hasn't responded to my last 3 emails requesting help I feel like I'm on my own. Has anyone had this same issue but most of all has Mor/Ryde been of any assistance? To say the least the Lippert pin box is lighter and the Mor/Ryde offers no improvement to the chucking with an additional 70 plus pounds of added weight.

If you have a Reese....the clunk is coming from the hitch! Reese jaws DO NOT completely encircle the king pin and they clunk. I threw mine in the scrap pile and got a B&W...clunk gone!

There are different rubber sheer weights - its very possible you have one for a heavier rig. Keep trying Mor Ryde.

I just put over 300 miles on my new MorRyde in the last few days. I also have a new B&W Patriot. I have pretty much the same set up as the OP. 5'er weighs 9,000lbs loaded. 2012 Ram 2500 CC LB CTD. I still have some chucking. It's more of a controlled feeling than with no MorRyde. I went on some really rough roads today (OR31-OR395). The 1st part was horrible, but the new MR did a decent job. I also had them build it with the under 11500lb GVW springs or rubber things. I did notice that it moves at least an inch back and forth. You could see the dust marks on the pin from where it sat all week prior to towing. So I know it's doing the job. I still get some chucking from certain situations like dips and bumps in the same spot. I have no bump on start and stop or anything like that. It's the RB72-1716-3 style.As a whole I'm 80% satisfied. It's not perfect but it's better than before and the ride is something I can live with. To the OP, not sure if you will get a 100% no chucking ride. But if you didn't get anything different after installing the new MR, then a call to MR needs to be made.

I have a more ride also and it is far better than no ride system, as I had once before. I have the Reese 18 k and trailer fifth wheel load is 5600 lb and only get a small clunk on start up. Tr wt 16500 lb. F-350 6.7 dually.:)

Soooo at this point we don't know what hitch OP is using :H
Our last hitch was a Reese quik-slide 16k and it was sloppy on start and stops.
We have had sig combo last 7 years with no clunking what so ever.
20K Reese standard hitch, MR pin box.

I found if I put more weigh to. The pin it helped the chucking.
I agree the Reese is not the right hitch either.

I have a Rockwood 8285ws. Very similar to your trailer. I also have a 2013 F250. I changed to a Mor/Ryde early this year & can't believe the difference it made. Chucking & banging almost completely eliminated. I have the Ford/Reese non sliding hitch. If you have the Ford hitch make sure the anchor pins are adjusted properly so there is very little to no play.

Keep trying Mor/Ryde. I called them with a question & they replied the same day.

I ordered it from Tweety's. It was not the best customer service I've ever had though. They don't stock the 1716 so they had to call MR to place the order since it needed to be built. I waited over a week to get some kind of tracking #. I called Tweety's several times and never got a decent response. So I just called MR myself. As it was they were trying to get a hold of me anyway to say it was in Oregon and they needed to set up a delivery time. Got it 2 days later. 2-3 days after I go it, I get an email from Tweety's saying my order has been shipped. Long story short it came from directly from MR.

Goducks, did you order your MR direct from MorRyde or a supplier? Also, to anyone traveling in Portland, OR, stay off 217 until they get the resurfacing done. It will really test everything on your TV and 5er with all the bridges. We went through there last weekend. it was the only time our rear kitchen was a total mess in the fridge and cupboards, nothing broken, just a mess.
