More heat needed in garage. Ideas?

I just bought a 2013 Raptor 300MP. Love it. of course there are the usual issues that were never fixed since brand new but overall really like it. I need more heat in the garage for my 3 girls. There is only a 1.5" register heating the 10' garage. I want by girls to warm. Has anybody added another outlet or something like that? Links? I am not doing something that gets hot. I want to run off furnace that is near the front of rig. I also don't want to run generator all night. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve.

I wouldn't leave any kind of a propane heater running with children.

Maybe just add a plug in heater to get it warm then just shut it off just before they go to bed.

We use an Olympic when sitting out in our garage. It is a terrific little heater. However, I'd be a bit apprehensive about leaving it on all knight with kids sleeping out there. It should not be a problem, but.........

It uses only 1/4 lb of propane per hour so a 20lb tank will run for 70+ hours set on high.

HI,

Have you considered a Olympic catalytic heater? I have one that keeps my 30' Bounder toasty warm at 30F and I only need to run the furnace a little bit at 19F outside to keep it around 70 inside. .

Sure I need to keep the roof vents open a little bit, and the kitchen window open about 1/2", and some cold air will come in all the time, but the 6,000 Btu's of constant heat avoids having the furnace cycle on all the time, as it is constant heat and no fan noise or power consumed. Mine is portable, and plugs into a low pressure gas fitting under my oven. I installed it with a tee going to the oven gas supply.

If you want a outside vented heater, then the Platinum heater has a exhaust fan for the propane fumes, but basically works the same..

Good luck,

Fred.

My advice is to camp somewhere with electric and use a space heater.

X2 Modifying the register or adding one will not work. I use an oil electric space heater in in my garage. When dry camping, I run the generator.

No matter what you do, the furnace still blows the same CFM of air. You could partially close all the forward vents to allow more are to get to the back. Once it warms up by the thermostat the heat shuts off.

What size line is feeding the 1.5" register? If it's larger you might increase the size of the register. Or think about adding some type of 12v fan setup that pulls more warm air into the garage. Also think about adding a duct up higher that allows air to circulate into the main cabin. I'd get something that can be closed off while towing any toys though.
