MorRyde IS is finally happening

Dropped it off at the Elkhart factory today. Go back on Thursday to pick it up. Also getting disc brakes, pass through slide, and cord reel.

I ain't right, taking a brand new trailer and having suspension replaced before even the 1st trip. Once we committed to purchase the trailer, the next call was to have IS installed. I scheduled the installation in mid January, and the soonest date available, 11/17!!! They are now booking into 2023!

Taking it to Elkhart, this was our first trip with the 5er loaded. Two boxes of coffee creamer bounced off the top of the cabinets, and several pods came out of the holder on the counter. Be interesting dragging it back home before we leave on Friday for Key West.

This is a complicated question to answer. The axles are technically higher capacity, but given my overall capacity, I probably won't need it.

Trailer comes with 5800 lb axles, I'm putting on 7k axles. Technically, the axles can carry more, but I doubt I'll ever need it.

We ordered our Artic Fox 27-5L in January. Around the same time, I watched a video from changing lanes youtube channel, where they had before and after, and the difference was dramatic. So dramatic, when the earliest appt I could get was nov 17, wife said book it. I've since seen a couple of other videos, that are equally dramatic.

The IS suspension has total movement of 5", where a typical trailer axle is 2". The additional advantage, what happens on one side of the trailer suspension does not translate to the other side

In 2018 I inquired about IS on our small fifth wheel. MORRyde service said they didn't recommend IS on less than 7K axles and suggested the SRE4000 rubberized equalizer. We had riser tubes, the SRE4000, and an X-Factor brace installed. It worked so well with the MORRyde rubber pin box that I had previously installed that chucking was all but gone. We noticed that the microwave plate started staying in place. In conversation at that time, they mentioned that they had to lay off half of their staff during the 2008 Great Recession. Perhaps they are now concerned about increasing the size of their service department so that they don't get caught having to layoff again.

In late winter 2019 we ordered a trailer that came with totally inadequate axles (5100 on a trailer that weighed 10750 empty with a 12000 GVWR.) Knowing that the situation would be inadequate I called MORRyde to inquire about improvements thinking I would beat the summer rush. They were backed up 3 months (and they don't do axle work other than IS.) I found an axle shop and had them install Kodiak disk brakes, an SRE4000, 6000 lb axles, and 3 X-Factor braces. I ended up rebuilding my MORRyde pin box myself because I didn't want to wait 3 months. Results are great.

The MORryde is so far under rated that my 8k axles have 17,500# hitting the ground and the fact is they are still well within spec per MORryde tech. These axles have rubber sheer springs for controlling the up and down motion plus the generic Monroe #555001 shocks.

payload from the RV ? Technically perhaps, but in reality you will have more as the components are so much stronger and beefier...

And lets face it, the RV's payload is a number factored primarily from the suspension components and tires.. and frame

All the above plus each wheel is fully alingable.

I believe that the 7K IS system is now running AROUND $6500.00 ? I am sure someone who just purchased can correct me.

Curious what this costs? I had a spring break recently on a trip. It could have been substantially worse, but makes me worry now.

It is everything you mentioned above... smoother ride, we leave our Keurig and paper towel dispenser on the counter top when traveling. No more rough riding down the highway, bridge approach's are smooth now, RR tracks are smoothed out... It is more robust, you LOOSE the axles, springs, spring perch, shackles,, basically EVERYTHING we hear people on hear complaining about breaking...

Then you add the disc brakes, you really have to have them to know the true difference..

SO, basically by adding the Morryde IS, it changed the entire dynamic of travelling for us . ..

I am on my 3rd fiver with the IS and disc brakes....

The moment my wife said "We will never own a fiver without the IS and discs" was the moment I knew they were good... And she is the BIGGEST CHEAPSKATE I know ! 🙂
