While my 2003 F450 (7.3) has been my favorite toy, I felt it was time to let her go. We took delivery on a 2013 Ford F450 4x4 Longbed with all options. The drive home was done by my DW who likened it to a car, not a truck. The new layout of dash and large touch screen really are great. Putting the first 500 miles on her and then we hitch her to the Montana for Lodi Samboree! Love new toys!!:C

Congrats on the new 450! We have the MFT on our 2013 Focus, and I like it.

We still have 4 to 6 weeks to wait for our 350. We couldn't go longer than a Supercab, so we had to stay with the 350.

Sigh... so long to wait.

Still a great truck, with tons of power and capabilities !!

Congrats on your new Ford. We picked up our f350 diesel sd a month ago and couldn't be happier. First tow -through multiple 7o/o grades plus had us at 10 mpg avg for 250 miles. Return trip home without 5er (left in storage) we did 20!! I tell people the truck does everything but pour me a cold drink and I'm not sure but it might so that, there's sooooo many features.

Good for you!

Don't know of a Montana that NEEDS a 450. Does that mean a heavier RV is in you future??????

No, most heavy dinosaur RVs are dead or near dead. My selection was based on over kill. I like keeping my family and others safe by having best truck for the job. Other thing I like the many benefits the 2013/14 F450's have to offer. The new Sync system is very impressive.

Thanks for being a responsible person and having enough TV for the RV!

Thank you!

Congrats!.. being a Cal resident ourselves... curious regarding registration fees on a 450...lots more than a 350?

Fees very high I think almost $800.00 that said, its the "CA numbers" and weigh scale requirements Ca enforces on F450's, and any truck over certain curb weight. If towing you don't stop, but not towing you must stop at weigh scales. They always (on my old 450) just waved me passed. Remember these trucks are not considered "pickups"! Now one more thing, I am disabled therefore I am exempt for weight fees on the truck. Many disabled drivers are unaware they can avoid the fees.

Randy-

The 450 has always had the "wide-track" steering which gives it better steering than a 250 or 350. Just look at where the front tires are on a 350 and then look at your 450. This wider stance allows a much shorter turning radius.

Actual it is the wheel cut angle that gives it a better turning radius. The wider stance in the spindle/king pin area is what allows for a greater cut angle. 4x4 are normally more restricted on wheel cut angle because of the U joint at the spindle.

Those that tow with Volvo 610's and 670's know all about this, as they turn much tighter that pickup trucks.

That was a big reason I chose a 450 over a 350. If you saw my driveway you'd understand why.
