My Week from Hades

This is a reposting that I had made on the Jayco Owners Forum. But I thought it needed more exposure. My Pinnacle is the 4th Jayco product I have owned. All were bought new. None of the first three units ever approached these problems!

Ah, yes...Pinnacle...the top of the line 5th wheel trailer in the Jayco fleet.

Just in the past week I have had to do the following to my Pinnacle (see sig) while on the road:
โ€ขreplace a sheared driveline bolt in my dinette slide
โ€ขrepair the entertainment slide (the blue lead wire on the right hand motor had its insulation rubbed off and was shorting out)
โ€ขfor the 3rd time had to reset the barrel pin in the right gear assembly of the front landing gear (try doing that without being able to remove the leg!)
โ€ขtighten the 4 hold-down bolts for both AC units as one was dripping water during a light rain

Fortunately, I am handy enough to do the work myself as am off warranty and on the road. But when you pay nearly $50,000 for a brand new, top of the line unit you'd expect and should get more reliability. And, I am OCD when it comes to maintenance.

Since I'm off warranty I'm sure Jayco would do nothing. My concern is that these expensive units might have a 3 year usable life and then start nickel and dime-ing you. And no, I am not a full-timer. We use the trailer about a total of 3 months a year.

Yes, I am a very frustrated Pinnacle owner at the present time!! Thanks for letting me vent.

My nomination for thread of the week! OP... to be honest your issues seem pretty normal for that (and all) price range models. The ac gasket is a normal problem because you don't want to over tighten. The other issues seem like excellent QC from American RV manufacturers.

Touchy are we? If you can't live with someone being off topic, on your thread, don't post. As soon as you hit the "post message" button, the content is no longer yours. Ownership passes to the owner of this forum and their assigned moderators. If a reply is OK with a moderator, your opinion doesn't count for beans. Sorry! That is just the way life is.

Every owner, no matter what manufacturer, has to do some maintenance at some point and being your rig is 5 model years old...

He said he bought it new in 2012. How does that make it five years old? Even if Jayco is producing 2016's at this time that's only four years. Did I miss something?

2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 = 5 model years with my limited math.

Now I'm really confused...what year is this??

I suggest you direct you're question to the many manufacturers that are producing and selling 2016 units...and what I said in my opening repy...MODEL YEARS.

The auto industry was one of the first to do this years ago and other industries have followed suit. A consumers Title of Ownership proves this out and a unit purchased, say now in June, is titled as a 2016.

So, again, you can do the math of how many MODEL YEARS the OP's rig is or get back and comment on his topic subject.

Otherwise PM/email me to discuss further and not clutter up his thread.

Who appointed you thread god?

So I misread MODEL YEARS as opposed to chronological age of the OP's rig. A reference to that would have saved any second posts from me! Sorry I cluttered up your thread!
