Nash 27-5l 50 amp ready?

I have a 2005 Nash 27-5l. Inside the battery box is a sticker that says 50 amp. It is wired for 2 ac's. My power shore cord is 30 amp cord. I was hoping I could just swap the 30 amp cord for a 50 amp cord and i would have 50 amp service. But when I looked at the junction box where the shore cord meets the rv wire's there are only 3 wires connected. There is a separate female 30 amp plug box next to the junction box that I don't have any idea what it's for. My circuit breakers are 30, 15 and 20 amps only. Would it be possible to just swap cords?

Thanks for your help. You are right. I just got off the phone with Northwoods and they told me the 5th wheel is 30 amp and the outlet is for the generator.

If yours is like mine (Arctic Fox 27-5L), that separate box in the cord storage area is part of your generator prep package. Mine runs from there to a junction box adjacent to the front storage compartment (under the overhang) where a generator would be installed. The idea with mine (and probably yours) is to install a generator to output its 110V AC to the the adjacent box which is wired to the 30 amp receptacle box in your cord storage area. When using the generator, you simply plug the shore cord into that 30amp outlet - thereby energizing all the AC outlets in the trailer. Think of it as a big extension cord from the back to front of the trailer.

In my case, I don't have or plan to get a built-in generator. So, I hijacked that wiring and connected to the output of my solar power system inverter. When I'm dry camping, I simply turn on the inverter, plug the shore cord into the 30amp receptacle in the cord storage area, turn off my converter and microwave and set the water heater and fridge to gas. The inverter energizes the AC outlets in the trailer.

If you can get your 2nd AC wiring to the would-be generator j-box, then maybe you could build another shore cord to plug into the extra receptacle in the cord storage area. That cord could be dedicated to the 2nd AC. I would add a fuse or breaker of appropriate size (30amp). You would only need to plug that second shore cord in when the 2nd AC is needed.

I have tried to contact Northwood but only get answering machine and they haven't called back. Would it be possible to wire for 2nd ac with 30amp wiring. I am having trouble posting a pic but does anyone know why this unit has a separate 30 amp outlet where the cord is stored.

My advice would be to contact Northwood Manufacturing and ask them.

Short answer, No. The fact that the sticker is in the battery box probably means that the wiring from the converter to the battery is sized for a 50 amp max converter.
