Need Water Heater Help

I have a 1988 Terry by Fleetwood and Iโ€™ve tried replacing the thermocoupler but the pilot light still doesnโ€™t stay lit and Iโ€™ve heard that I would have to replace the gas control valve then. Anyone know where I can find a replacement for a Atwood gas control valve MPD-91043?

Tomorrow Iโ€™ll get some wire to put into the coupler valve port and see if I can get a ohm reading

Thermal couple is good

Stupid me, I over looked that the 200m on my volt meter for some reason but itโ€™s running anywhere between 23-26MV. I tried to ohm test the valve again but I donโ€™t think Iโ€™m able to reach far enough inside to hit the contact, it feels like Iโ€™m only touching threads or the ohm part isnโ€™t working on my meter

25-30 Millivolts is what thermal couple puts out. What is lowest voltage scale on your meter? Should have a millivolt scale.
Look at the valve end of the thermal couple to show where to touch in valve. It is very close to opening.

So Iโ€™ve heated up the coupler for a couple of minutes using the pilot light and I only get .01V and my prongs on the volt meter are to long to ohm test the housing

You can test the thermal couple.
Disconnect from the valve. Look closely at that end. You should see a center wire. second "wire" is tube.
Connect a voltmeter on lowest scale to each, use long lighter and heat the thermal couple. Memory serves you should see around 85 millivolts.
You can test coil in valve. On Ohms scale read between housing and center of connection point. You should see high resistance. No memory on level.

Ok thatโ€™s what I was thinking too but I wanted to make sure about it, could it be possible that the new thermocoupler burned out or I possibly got a bad one?

Yes, the thermal couple produces a small amount of electricity to hold pilot valve open. The copper tube looking pipe is actually a two conductor wire assembly. There is a small electric valve inside gas valve.
No other electrical connection in your model.

And the burners are a bright blue flame as well

Yes everything is clean, it seems like if I play with the switch, sometimes it acts like there some gas there. This might sound stupid but are there actually any electrical wires hooked up to it? I can see any wires from the outside

Have you cleaned the burner tube and orifice in the propane valve?
Was the range burners bright blue flame?

Yep enblethen I have propane to everywhere else and the pilot light for the water heater, I did get the main burner to ignite for a second but that was only one time and couldnโ€™t get the same result

Are you getting propane to the other appliances? Check range for good clean blue flame.
You could have a bad regulator.

Often times a bit of wind would suck the pilot light out, on older models. Using a tooth pick stuck in one side of heater door, would help eliminate this problem. It would allow air to pass through, keeping the pilot lit.

Not what your asking, but I can't help, as to finding the replacement.
