New Buyer, This is not fun

First let me say, I am not sure if this is the right place to post this point.

I purchased a brand new top of the line Heartland Big Horn 5th wheel, 10/2013. From the moment I walked into to it I have had nothing but problems with it, over 30 warranty issues from the small to the large within 4 months.

I toured the factory right after the coach had been completed, and realized very quickly I had made a very bad choice in an RV company. I wish there was a forum where I could have gone to and found the good, the bad and ugly on various manufacturers.

Seems you only hear the truth after you have purchased one and it's then to late and the info is only by word of mouth. Most forums do not have an outlet for what I would call a Lemon, which is what I believe I have.

I am spending all my time documenting the problem, fixing the problem, finding repair people, arranging for things to be fixed, coordinating repair people etc. There has been nothing fun about spending 1/3 of my savings to do this. If this is the RV life, Im not missing anything.

I am told by Heartland no refund, but do not feel with all my problems this is right. Heartland owes me a new working non fixer upper or a refund, however having seen how they build coaches I do not want another Heartland product.

Companies should be responsible for their actions and if there is no outlet for the consumer to make them responsible then we are the losers in this investment. Why is there no place for future buyers to go.

I want my experience to be heard so that buyers will be made aware and the RV industry will be held responsible.

I have a dedicated Facebook page outlining my experiences with photos, but understand URL's are not allowed in this forum.

Just my thoughts for tonight.

My 2010 has been a good unit. Sure, I toured the factory and was horrified, but honestly...they're all put together with glue and staples. It's not rocket science and they all build the same way. So...jump in while the waters warm.

"History" repeated! - Insert "Fred" for Charlie.

Another lack of prior planning, and the depletion of his funds, may have resulted in *this* being the real reason for not being heard from again.

While you wait on Fred - post your thoughts on who owns the Brooklyn Bridge, why your faucet drips, and are LTs really a better choice than STs.

BTW it's 80 degrees today in So.CA, the surf is calling......:B

Dog...

While that is what is posted on WIKI, people familiar with the industry and in particular with Heartland, know that Thor has left the Heartland management in complete control of their product. Thor is Heartlands key to the stockroom of additional cost savings in the marketplace...

One only has to get together with Heartland owners to see that the companies exemplary attitude towards customer service has not changed since Thor acquired Heartland...and yes...I know there are other unhappy owners out there...but they are in an extreme minority...

Heartland and Keystone are subsidiaries of Thor.

Here is a list:

Recreation Vehicles

Airstream
Breckenridge
CrossRoads RV
Dutchmen RV
Redwood RV
Keystone RV
Heartland RV

Motorized Recreation Vehicles (Motorhomes)

Airstream
Thor Motor Coach

Thor is just a holding company. Heartland as well as most of the others listed, operate autonomously...with little to no interference from Thor.

Maybe or maybe not:

"Like several other firms in the industry, Thor offers employee incentives based on productivity, with reductions in bonuses based on warranty work. Thor encourages employees to be actively involved in community programs and Thor executives serve on the boards of numerous civic organizations." WIKI

Either way, Thor owns them.

Hello,

Heartland has been a great company for us. I am sorry to hear you are having issues. We had a "lemon" with the Winnie Raven we bought and owned for just over a year. Bought it brand new, one issue after another. We sold it for our Big Country. I hate to hear of bashing Heartland, owned by Thor not Keystone. Check out the Heartland forum mentioned earlier, which I am surprised you weren't aware of when you bought the BH. Seek some answers and help there. Get your dealer involved to help you. Good Luck and I hope things work out for you.

Where is the OP?

If he/she is like most, join the forum, post a long rant, and never be heard from again.

I call them "one post wonders," although I have been flamed for that in the past.

Only time will tell if the OP is one. I will wait and see.

I wish there was an option in the advanced search feature to search for people with only 1 or 2 posts. Right now we can only speculate about how many 'one post wonders' there actually are. I suspect there are many more than we realize.
