New G 114's

After doing much reading on the forums about tires.. there has been a lot of discussion lately about the upgrade to 17.5...

I sat in the background and watched... Put a few feelers out and made the swap..

I found a guy to buy my 2012 date code G-614's and the wheels for $1,500.00....

I called Mike at Trailer Tire and Wheels and just put on my new kicks... I was not sure I wanted to spend the bucks , but after seeing the Shoulder step on my tires now ( see other thread called A Tire issue??) I figured I would be buying new to get a piece of mind..

$ 3,200.00 new G-114's X 5
$ 1,500.00 old G-614 tires and wheels
-------------------
$ $1,700.00 for the swap . . NO BRAINER
  • When I upgraded our previous 2004 Mobile Suites 36RE3 from the OEM Goodyear G614s to 17.5" aluminum wheels and Michelin XTAs, I went ahead and bought 5 wheel/tire assemblies from Trailer Tires and Wheels. My thinking was that the spare was just as old as the tires I was changing out based on age, and if I DID have to make a tire change on a trip, I had a wheel/tire assembly that I could leave on the ground until I got the failed tire replaced to use as a spare.

    It really didn't matter - the 17.5" Michelin XTAs were flawless. Never a problem with them. The new Mobile Suites came with 17.5" Goodyear G114s - I hope they give the same service that the Michelin XTAs did.

    Just wanted a straight answer like you gave me, not some of the "butt" wise cracks that have been given when someone ask a simple question.
    There has been lots of cutdowns given on this site and do appreciate your response.
    Thanks,

    OK will bite the bul lit!!! Why not keep the 614 spare as you will hopefully never need it and if so only for a short as possible mileage. See it all the time with the 50/50 spare on auto.
    Please don't be a "B" just asking for information and save a few $$$.00

    Forgive me , but I don't understand your response ? What does it mean to be a "B" ?? and I was not asking a question...

    IN MY eyes , it would have cost me Roughly $1400.00 ($350.00ea) to replace the 4 G-614's... at the end of the day , for $300.00 MORE I now have 5 of the 17.5 G114's..

    As far as the spare goes... Again.. for a grand total of $300.00 I now not only have a piece of mind , I also do not have to worry about finding a replacement spare on the road on a Saturday or Sunday while on vacation in an area that I am not familiar with...

  • I am waiting for the Lotto to hit...I have 3 axles, so 7 tires and wheels.
