I am in the process of shopping for a newer used fifth wheel trailer and an acceptable TV for it. What are the advantages and/or disadvantages of 6 wheels vs 2?

With 50 states, there very likely are 50 different sets of rules.

I just checked on my Pennsylvania driver's license (just an ordinary passenger car license, no CDL or anything). It says I'm good for singles or combinations < 26,001 lbs.

Up here in British Columbia , you have to have the right size truck 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton 1 ton and so on to pull the weight of the vehicle ( RV) you also have to have the correct endorsement on your drivers licence for any RV trailer over 10,000 lbs. ( the weight of the RV loaded can't exceed 10,000 lbs)
Now I don't know the laws down where you are however I would check before you buy, just to make sure there isn't any.

Since its a truck question, yes the dually provides a much more stable towing platform. Also, once the gross weight of the trailer passes about 13.5k pounds you'll need the dually for the load carrying ability.

When I did my last fifth wheel upgrade, I jumped from 13.5k gross to over 15k gross. My dealer wouldn't let me off the lot till I upgraded to the one ton dually. I knew I needed the upgrade and he was absolutely right.

Since it's a truck question I would assume that he wants to know about all the wheels on the truck. And yes, there is a benefit to having six wheels (DRW) over two rear wheels. All depends on what kind of 5ver you want to pull. Weights depend on what the tires can carry. Weights also include what you are carrying in the truck as well as occupants too.

This was my guess also, but again just guessing :W

A TV with two wheels will not pull much of anything, plus it might be hard to find a place to mount a hitch.

The number of wheels has to do with load capacity. The more the 5th weighs, the more axles and wheels it takes to carry the load.

And the bigger the truck needed to 'carry' that 5th wheel pin weight.

Are there any 2 wheeled 5th wheel rv's?

Scamp makes a 2 wheel 19ft 5th wheel. Seams impractical though.

Welcome to the forum...

If I understand your question correctly;

A 6 wheel trailer would be a tri axle trailer with lengths up to 40-42 feet

A trailer with two wheels would be a single axle trailer and very short.
