No personal property tax on RVs, though the registration is a "tax" in that it changes yearly, as value decreases. Same with cars. One of the few "flat" rates is for utility trailers < 10k GVW. The law =specifically= excludes RVs. AFAIK, you also don't have to pay sales tax on something you already own in another state, since there is no "sale". If you have the original invoice, it shows you've already paid the tax on it, and are just changing where it's registered. Caveat: check with AZ MVD (not DMV) for definitive answers.

Next time you get stopped by a cop for an infraction in (whatever state), tell him a guy from one of the other 49 said (on an internet forum) it's OK where he lives- - so it *MUST* be OK there also..:S

Opinion:
Register it in your home state (your legal residence), store it in AZ for at least 181 days per year.
You are *not* living (residing) in it when it's in storage.

The source that counts:
Ask the AZ DMV.

Registration in Illinois is $50/ year. No personal property tax. From a legal standpoint, I think it should be in Illinois, at least for now.

Need to check the registration and/or personal property taxes in IL. Sounds like those things might be very steep in AZ.
