One last gooseneck question...

Done my homework, Reese Goose Box is the only Lippert approved gooseneck box for a 5er using their chassis. It is a complete box replacement, not an adapter.

My truck already has a goose ball. I'm comfortable with gooseneck hookups. I also like the articulation a gooseneck gives for uneven terrain.

I've never had issues with the ride of a gooseneck, even with my fully loaded 40' enclosed race trailer.

I don't already own a fifth wheel receiver. So money will have to be spent either way, but the Goose Box will leave my bed empty when not being used.

So any reason I am missing on why NOT to do a Reese Goose Box?

My new rig will be a 41' Jayco 5er with a 16,500 GVWR.

I'm tired of using a hoist every time I go rving.

Leave it connected to 5th wheel king pin and use 5vr landing gear to raise/lower out of /into truck bed

OP.......

Is it time for your medication or mine?

While you are comfortable with hooking up a gooseneck, an elevated hitch like any standard fifth wheel hitch or the Andersen makes it just so much easier. Until you try a standard hitch you won't really know the difference. Also, extra articulation with a ball hookup only works when you have plenty of clearance between the truck box and the underside of the trailer. Typically clearance is less with a fiver than a GN trailer, that is why fifth wheel hitches have limited side pivot. Better to stress truck and trailer suspension and frame than repair body damage to both.

But the warranty issue is a real consideration, so you should also consider the B&W Companion hitch.

Oh, I like that hitch, too, and personally don't think it would cause any issues with the frame, since the leverage point is so similar to the fifth wheel box, but if I ever had a chassis issue while using the Andersen, Lippert would deny my claim. I have that in writing.

Maybe if I were out of warranty I'd consider it, but I am looking to buy a new 5er.
