If you were ordering a new FW from the factory and you knew that some of the furniture you were going to replace right off, would you order upgraded furniture in hopes of getting a better sale price after you removed it, or would you just stick with the stock stuff and take what you could get? Thanks...

I've been in the auction business for almost 30 years. You will never recoup the extra you pay for the upgrades. Go as cheap as possible. RV furniture as a whole has terrible resale value.

First of all, any special order costs more than inventory on the lot. Since you want to strip a lot of standard or optional features, I would look for the box of choice on a lot and make a deal. If you know how to negotiate you will get a good deal.

Some folks will disagree with me, but you can prove me right. Get a price for a special order at a lot and then go to another lot and get a price for the same or lessor unit. Make sure you add apples to apples.

Good luck

Thanks, BB. Kinda hard to get a price when you want to delete some of the basic furniture and replace it with something more to your liking. ๐Ÿ™‚ Biscuit's suggestion of "unwritten" options, is also attractive. Personally, I'd love to see whether this mfr. would install a manual awning. The electrics are just one more thing to go wrong and, until they're built as robustly as a manual, I'm not a fan. Add in an auto-retract feature and, if you're boondocking and it's breezy, you can suddenly have low batteries and a hot trailer when your shade rolls itself up.

order it without an awning and add the one of your choice. I concur on the powered awnings.

When we ordered our 5vr pricing came out very close to what dealer had for same unit on lot without the upgrades/options/deletions we wanted.

We even modified order directly with factory as unit was going down production line for very nominal fee.

One thing we discovered......not all 'options' are listed. We had some non-listed options done just with an e-mail to factory rep.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

If available as an option, I would always get the factory to do it.

Of course, but when there's no option, you either find another company or make changes to the one you want.

We had other items added that weren't listed on any option sheet (5 dedicated circuits for inverter, dual shore power receptacles, 12V DC power outlet in basement) so the off sets between deleted/added was almost even.

HH, so it's pretty much semi-custom anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚

Upgraded adds to pricing of rig....then you probably wouldn't recoup that upgrade cost when trying to sell the item.

We had some items deleted and pricing was adjusted downward.......plus I didn't have to deal with removal/getting rid of it.

What did you have deleted, if you don't mind me asking? Did the dealer do the discount or was it from the factory?
