Overnighting at Wallmart

Very soon we will pull our 5er from Houston, TX to Carrabelle, FL in two days. We are hoping to travel long hours and spend the night in Wallmart parking lots. We have heard of people spending nights in Wallmart parking lots, although we have not done it yet. We are researching, and cannot find a Wallmart that will allow us to spend the night in their parking lot. We will be travelling on Interstate 10. Have any of you travelled on I-10 and spent the night in Wallmarts? Are there other places to park for a night? Any other suggestions are welcome.

  • If you are taking longer drive days, you may not feel like cooking, stop at a Cracker Barrel for the night and have dinner there as well.
Most towns of any size have one at it's Interstate exit, and most welcome RV'ers.
  • Miss. Rest stop just over the La./Miss line. Don't park with the big trucks just go thru their lot as if you are exiting the stop and there will be some pull outs for RVs.
  • Cabela's and BassPro usually let people stay, from what I've read/heard. A lot of times, locations would be willing, but city codes forbid it. Look for Sam's Clubs, too.

Some Costcos may allow it if code allows. Cracker Barrel may also allow.
