pin box bike rack

Anyone have an idea of how much clearance you need between adult mountain bikes and truck cab? I wouldn't want to mangle bikes/damage cab in a tight turn.

Thanks.
  • I went through this a couple of months ago. Went with a front mount hitch for the truck. I would have loved to do a pin box mount but I have a short bed and just didn't have the room.

I see you have a long bed. You should have plenty of room for the pin box mount. One positive on mine is the ease of placing the bikes in the rack. Here are a couple of pics.

This one shows the view from the drivers seat.

I chose this hitch because it mounted below the bumper. Some mount higher up between the tow hooks. I felt this would block more of my view if I had used one of them. Good luck, John
  • That was my concern with my short bed Ford. I ended up fabbing a front hitch to my Fisher snow plow frame under the truck and carry the bikes up there. I see you're in Fla, so maybe a front bumper mount would solve the bike dilemma.
  • I can put two mountain bikes on mine however I believe every truck/trailer combination is different.
