Power Converter??? Don't know what the problem is?

You don't list if you have an EMS on your unit. If not, it's possible you lost the neutral which can result with the full 240 volts being supplied to different circuits which could have been the cause of your smoke. If that's the case, you've got some major repairs before selling.
