Propane Problems

Have a 2008 3912 Cyclone. 30# bottles on each side of the unit. When trying to operate on from the off door side stove main burner will light but within a few seconds burner output drops dramitically. Oven and furnace will not stay on. When using the door side bottle the gas flow seems even more restricted. Both bottles full. Have changed out the "red" regulator on the off door side after it started leaking. Still not sure why its there. Suggestions?
  • Have you tried turning off the propane (at the bottle) and then, very slowly, turning it back on again. Sometimes if you turn it on too fast, the tank valve "thinks" there is a rupture and shuts down the flow.

  • same exact issue (red indicator, full tanks, very little lp flowing) on my 3950; under warranty dealer worked on it and found debris in the lines from the tanks to the regulator
  • The off side regulator (RED) is a 30# regulator so full propane cylinder pressure is not on hose going to other side.

Both pigtail hoses from cylinders to the 2 stage regulator have the 'excess flow valves' in them (not the cylinders---------they have a spring loaded valve that closes when hose is disconnected)

The pigtail hoses (long one from off side and short one at 2 stage regulator) can fail causing restricted flow. The excess flow valve inside the nut is a ball bearing that floats. When first opening cylinder valve the ball moves to the closed position until downstream line pressure equalizes and then ball moves to center. If debris/oily residue is present ball can stick.

Also the 2 stage regulator can get gummed up from oily residue....or just plain fail to maintain demand due to weaken spring(s), diaphragms

    2 stage regulator......
