  • IMO it appears to be either broken body ply cords from an impact (service issue) or an open body ply splice (mfg issue). Relatively easy to determine once tire is dismounted.

You can ask capriRacer for his opinion.
  • Wouldn't hurt to jack up the rest of the tires and give them a spin and see if there is any wobble.. I did that after a BFGoodrich blowout and found 2 tires with broken belts

I am not a tire expert, but do have the same tires on my fifth wheel. It appears to be a broken belt. Could have been caused by excessive side wall flexing (tire scrubbing) while making a tight turn.
Have you taken the tire to a Firestone dealer?

Belts go around the out perimeter of the tire. Poly sidewall plies go from bead to bead across the tire. The problem is with the sidewall plies. Should be covered under warranty. Chris

Definitely a manufacturing defect, the sidewall has separated. It happens to even the best of tire manufacturers. If the dealer tries to tell you it was a road hazard and not covered under warranty go to another Firestone dealer, they are lying.

I agree manufacturing defect yes it does happen to all manufactures but it seems to happen more to some, than the others. Wonder why that is :h
