Only know of one Class C MH that had an electrical problem in the wiring to the slide. I was in fact caused by the wire chafing on the slide mechanism after the flexible support had failed (worn out). Had he been more diligent during any maintenance and or pre-trip inspection he would have noticed he had a problem.

We also have a 3-way fridge in a slide with no problems. As posted, they are slightly less efficient because venting has to be forced out the side instead of out the top. If you have to worry about your slide supporting your fridge, you need to be concerned about the RV construction more than where the fridge is located.

7+ yrs, ~20,000 miles, and nearly 200 nights on ours and never a problem. And have never heard of anyone having a problem with a fridge related to being in a slide.

I'll bet there were no models like that in his lot and customer asked for one. You can tell a salesman is lying when his lips start moving.

If it's not in the slide it tends to vent through the roof. Slide mounted vent out the side above the fridge, and often with a fan. On the one hand, it's another roof vent to check caulking, and on the other it is a source of parasitic power loss through the motorized vent fan.

In some units the refer needs to be shorter due to the lower ceiling in the slide. Also, I don't like the top vent being on the side which reduces the air flow over the coils. A fan is usually added to assist the air flow, but that is an added draw on the battery when dry camping.

Another one at 9 years old and not any problems. Pick a floor plan you like best, feel comfortable living in, and can safely tow.

We've had two 5th wheels with the fridge in the slide and have had no issues with either one. Just my $.02 worth.

ours is in the slide- no problems and is on year 9. FYI the sink and the range/oven are also on the same slide as the fridge.

Salesmen try to sell what they have, and will say almost anything to accomplish that, including scaring you by saying something that 'could' happen.

Never had a problem in 12 years with my entire kitchen in a slide.
