Another idea, just for contemplation, is if you have a friend with a newer truck that has the fifth wheel prep option, you could buy them a hitch in exchange for letting you borrow their truck. Long shot I know, but if you had such a friend it would be a win-win. Would be cheaper for you than a rental I'll guess, and they might want a fiver someday.
