Replace Gas Struts

I have a 2012 Cedar Creek 36B4 with an outside kitchen. My problem is the hatch for the kitchen doesn't open far enough. I'm a seasonal camper and my site is kind of sloped so the hatch doesn't open high enough for me to get under without stooping. Someone suggested I replace the struts with longer ones to push the door up higher. Does anyone know how to go about this?
  • The basement door on my camper didn't open enough and I think it is because the models with a bedroom vanity slide out would be in the way of the door opening any higher. I don't have the slide out so I simply undid the screws on the bottom of the struts and moved them up six inches or so and secured them in that position. They work fine and I have a lot more head room and it didn't cost anything but time.
  • If you change size make sure you measure the position distance accurately. You may have to relocate the mounting points.
