RV Barns

I have never liked keeping any vehicle outdoors rather it be an automobile or an RV. In the past we kept our fiver in our shop, but with space being a premium we decided to have an RV barn put up. We had the RV barn put up behind the shop and now there is room in the shop again.

Mine is around the same height/length as the pinnacle you just bought. When towing, I stick to interstates when possible and re fuel at truck stops where I know canopies are high enough to prevent collisions.

I would never travel secondary roads or enter a city or town without researching my route to ensure there are no low bridges or dead end roads that would cause me problems ( this became a huge problem for me when a city street suddenly ended at a new city parking lot).

I have recently purchased copilot truck GPS for my iPad to help me plan routes that will hopefully avoid these pit falls.

Also, a new forum topic with this question would probably get you more suggestions and opinions

You shouldn't have much if any problems even off the interstates. States height requirements are 14 feet with some states still at 13' 6". If an under pass is any lower than that it will be posted. The biggest pit falls are in cities especially big cities in the east, there are still lots of low under passes in a lot of those cities. You will probably still find a few low under passes on some state and county roads too. I do most of my traveling in Texas and west of Texas, the low under passes in the west are far and few between.

Do you mind me asking, We just bought a 40ft Jayco Pinnacle and they tell us its 13.3 inch tall, do you every have issues with overpasses or other hight items. We are on pins and needles now. Going out for our first pull. We have read some of the horror stories from some people. Our oll RV was 11.5 ft.

I forgot to ask, did you do your own measuring of the height or is that what the RV Center told you the height is. In this game 1 or 2 inch could make the difference of roof or no roof ๐Ÿ™‚

Our trailer is the same height and the only time that you have to watch is some of the older underpasses and overpasses. Get a good RV GPS and it will route you around such things. Other than that, we haven't had a problem. We just came in from a 4258 mile trip on Route 66.

Mine is 24x46 and need a couple of more feet wide as when the slides are out and the F350 DRW is beside of it there is not any room to slide between the hips and the open slide.
Clearance is 14' at the top of the sides as Redwood 38GK is 13'3" tall and I am able to clean and inspect the roof of RV with no problems and do maintiance as needed (when I remove the F350).

I had one built and a put a concrete slab under it. Its 18x40. Its wide enough to open slides on both sides and tall enough for me to walk on the roof (bent over of course). I have a 30amp box put in so I can keep power on it. Its next to my shop so I have water to wash it and also ran a air line for topping off the tires before a trip.

This is similar to what we are going to build but without the concrete slab. Might even go 24' wide. How tall is it?

Not sure of height but I got the highest wall tubing I could get. The width will determine the overall height in the center. I will measure tomorrow

We are going to put something like this on our camping lot. It will be on gravel as we aren't allowed to have concrete in our campground. Will probably only cover the sides about a quarter of the way down as we will want to be able to see out our windows and walk through the carport easily.

Nice RvPort mbrower,
I too have a 30amp outlet and Water is on the house about 25 foot from the RVPort. I have a 14X8 concrete pad under the tires. I put that end for the first TT we owned and just never added to it. MAybe one day I can add a little here and there until is all Concrete under the Rvport. I haven't thought about AIR because I have a pancake compressor that I use but it would be nice to use my out buildings air compressor as it is the stand up type and would not cycle as much when using it.

Had mine built 12 years ago, 22x40 and 14 foot high front opening. Totally enclosed and locked Had the floor and a 30 foot apron poured about a year later. Total cost with doors about $17000.

Thanks everyone for the info. I just bought a Jayco Pinnacle 40ft 5th wheel and I need to find it a home out of the weather. They tell me its 13.4 feet tall. I also had a Winegard Travler SK-1000 on top. I hope it does not add height. I was told it won't. Happy camping all.
