RV Direct purchase

Looking at a new pinnacle this year, and we have been doing mostly research online. Talked with some of the high volume dealers and the prices seem to be much better. Got a quote from RV Direct this morning that really put things on a new level. Problem is closest dealer is 10 hours away. We've pretty much settled on floor plan and options. Our closest dealer has the unit with interior and options on his lot, and we are going to go up and take a shot this weekend. Anyone ever purchased something like this from RV Direct and had that kind of distance between you and them? I could see a lot of things going wrong....thoughts?

We bought a Jayco Eagle Premier from a dealer 1200 miles away. We saved several thousand dollars on the transaction. We had some warranty issues resolved timely with the dealer we bought the unit from. We also have had some more time consuming warranty work done at a dealer where we live. Very good service from both and dealers. Both dealers stated they don't have problems getting authorization from Jayco for repair work. I would recommend getting the best deal wherever the dealer is.

Jayco is huge on pushing their 2 year warranty-
a 2 year warranty means everything's paid

"Local" dealer is blowing smoke!..:R
(Or smoking "something")

Tell Jayco what he said.

And....what good does the local dealer do when you're 3K miles away on a camping adventure?..:?

Went way farther than 10 hours away to purchase a Jayco.

It had a 2 year factory warranty I never needed.
However - just for fun (waiting for the DW to do her morning thing), I asked the service dept at a dealer across from the RV park if they would do warranty work on my trlr - which was *not* purchased from them.

After some "beating around the bush" - which included the std BS of their customers first, etc. - they admitted they would...;)

I bought my current rig 100 miles from home and have had it serviced under warranty by a different dealer 30 miles from home that doesn't even sell 5th wheels and they worked on it with no issues or delay. I personally believe all this flap about a dealer not wanting to work on it because you didn't buy it there is a bunch of made up hog wash. I never heard from anyone that it actually happened to. It's my opinion dealers are hungry enough they would work on your truck too if you let them.

I never had one refuse to work on it but around East Texas the wait is 2-3 weeks. My current RV came from a dealer who told me that their customers go to the head of the line and others the back. I don't know how long the line is as I've haven't had any warranty work done.

Since I'm also considering a Jayco, when I start to get down to brass tacks, I plan on talking to Jayco directly and flat-out asking them about warranty service and if they would authorize a certified mobile service to do work if a local dealer, whether home or on the road, won't service my rig in a timely fashion.

What did you find out from jayco about send a mobile repair person out to your RV, rather than have to upend from permanent site and take it into be serviced?

Frankly, I haven't asked, yet. As I'm not yet ready to buy, I don't want them changing their minds between now and, possibly, next year, when I =do= buy. ๐Ÿ™‚

We're buying our second Jayco Eagle from RV Direct and so far, it's going nice and smooth. The first was a 2014 Jayco Eagle HT 27.5 BHS that we picked up in Des Moines. They had the unit ready to go and they conducted a thorough two-hour PDI demonstrating everything and answering all of my questions to my satisfaction. I even had them install a special capture plate on the Mor/RYDE pin box to be compatible with the PullRite SuperGlide hitch we had when we picked it up. Their usual policy is to charge a minimum of one hour labor but they only charged me for .25 hrs. Overall, I couldn't have been happier with the whole deal.

BTW, if you're trying to figure prices, you can get an online quote from RV Direct in minutes and they won't harass you later. It will list the MSRP as you're configuring (so take note) and within a few minutes, you'll get your quote via email. If nothing else, it gives you an excellent starting point for negotiating a deal locally.

Personally, I don't care at all for our local dealer having purchased my first TT from them so I avoid them like the plague. If warranty issues come up, I'll seek out a reputable dealer or request Jayco sent me the parts and I'll do my own repairs.

Here's a thread I started in the TT section that has a lot of good information on the subject at hand:

http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/28277805/srt/pa/pging/1/page/1.cfm

After posting and considering all the responses I pretty much decided that I'd travel a ways to save the money and deal with service/repair when needed. My local dealer gave me the whole, "you'll be at the bottom of our priority list and we'll likely have to charge you for most repairs since the factory only authorizes X amount." Overall, I don't believe them. I have a feeling if they screw you around too much, a call to the manufacturer can get things moving.

In many cases, the saving are A LOT for a bit of a drive.

I think you are going to be happy with your decision. I have never regretted buying from internet dealers at all. Just make sure you have everything you expect before you leave the dealer.

Made a trip to one of the local Jayco dealers today. Second one this week. Not even close in price or options. And you would think the service if warranty work would negate some of the cost....not so much. The dealership I visited Monday only would warranty parts, not labor and service call if the unit was not delivered to the lot, and the other was not interested in any type of on site work, and he is 2.5 hours away. Got a peek at the enhancements on the '16 models and they are slick. 23 sq fridge, central vac. looks like we'll be make a drive.

Price would be the only thing I would be interested in from these dealers. I live in west tn and after researching some, there are local mobile authorized service companies that can do warranty work. I still need to verify this being doable, so sales price is the only thing I would be looking at from any of these dealers.

I purchased the rig in my signature used from Albany RV, aka-RV one, aka RV direct. I can only speak for this one location as I have never used any of their other locations. The only thing I was happy with was the price. The service after the sale was very disappointing. I had to fight to get what was promised me. The techs were very sub par. I had a number of issues that they attempted to fix but did not fix only to bring the coach somewhere else to get the job done correctly.

I would never bring my rv to Albany RV for service again. However if I was looking to purchase on rv and could buy an rv from them and get factory delivery I would consider another purchase from them. That is I would purchase from them if they never touched the rv.

The owners will tell you they will be there for you when you need them but that is not true!

I am Active duty Army and have no issues taking my RV to a different dealer than I purchased it from. I bought in MI and TX and have had serviced in NC. To went directly to Keystone website, submitted the request for repair and they emailed me back three locations. I generally go where I can get the best deal.

I agree totally. I'm just feeling my way through the online purchase. I have several quotes from the online dealers, and wife and I are heading to a somewhat local dealer to check out a unit he has on the lot. '15 model but it has the dรฉcor and options we are looking for. Not too eager to have to sit and haggle, but I will give him a shot at matching what I already have as far as quotes. Really just want the wife to see something other than videos and pics of this setup.
