Sailun Tires

I have been seeing a lot of 5er owners using Sailun Tires.

Has there been any discussion on this tire. Normally on this board and something as volatile as tires would have 2 or 300 pages unless I missed it. any info would help.

Thanks bbt

I had about 1\2-3\4 inch clearance before I spread my axles. Clearance was not a problem.
I added axle kit to raise trailer vs. Spreading axles

I have the GY G614s on my rig, but only had the cheap bombs as spares, so yesterday I bought 2 Sailun G637s and mounted them on my spare rims. They are the same size as the GYs and will not cause any problem with the being the same exact diameter of the GYs. In asking why the are now stamped with the ST logo, both people I spoke to in different companies said it was to get by the tariff on the LTs. Same tire, no change except for the stamping. I've been impressed with these tires since first seeing them, now I own a couple and when the 614s are due for replacement, will probably own more of them.

According to their web sites, the S637 is 1 inch larger in diameter and would place the tire tread on 1 inch closer together between the axles. Dexter states 1" minimum clearance, so if you have less than 2" with ST235/80R16E's or G614's then the S637 is not the right tire.

Chris

For the record I have Sailun S 637 tires. Until recently my tires had less than 1" clearance between them however I never had any issues.
I have since installed a Correct Tracks alignment kit to raise the rear of my rig and gain more bed rail clearance.
As a bonus the Correct Tracks kit allowed me to spread my axles apart. I now have more than 1" between the tires.

I have been considering the s637 as well. My concern is that I have about 1 3/8 or so between tires now and if the sailuns are an inch bigger my clearance would be reduced to around 3/8". Question: how close were your tires before you adjusted the axles?

MY Sailun's are not the same diameter as the Goodyears. They are about 11/2 larger. Has the diameter changed?
I am also concerned if they are now and ST tire.
ST and LT tires are built to a different standard and must comply with different ratings.

Good point and I need to make a correction. They are much closer in diameter than the much smaller bombs I took off of the spares. Thanks for pointing that out. I stood them side by side and they are a slightly larger diameter. Sorry for misleading, but much better tires than what I currently had.

I have never heard of that brand of tire--so--if you had a blow out and needed to replace the tire and you were in the Arizona desert or Fort St. John, B.C.--etc.-- who would you call? That is why I have always stuck with the top name brands. My camper came with "Triangle" tires from the factory--I had never heard of them and nobody else had either--gave them to Salvation Army and put on Goodyear Wranglers which now have about 30,000 miles on them. Lars

Just because you've never heard of them doesn't mean much....I would figure that one would purchase FIVE of these tires when they replace tires.....4 on the unit (if two axle) and a spare.

Do some research on the Sailun S637 tires...enlighten yourself so that you'll know what is being discussed. We're talking "G" rated tires here..only one I'd ever go with BEFORE doing research on the Sailun tires are the GY G614's.....Now, knowing what I know about the tire and the many good reviews....I will look at this tire and just steer clear of the Arizona desert and Fort St. John, BC:h

Don't knock it until you've done some research on it...check out the credentials of the manufacturer...or don't and still never know anything about the tires

A good source for "serious" trailer tire research is always the Escapees HDT forum. (Enter "Sailun" in search.)

Folks towing (*very*) heavy trailers - and of course, *NO* STs.

Not too many reports there, but users seem to be happy with 'em.

Off topic but Goodyear makes 14 different types of Wrangler tires for many different applications so it may be best to compare apples to apples when reporting a failure.

We put six Sailun S637 marked as LT235/85-16 G tires on our tri axle GN stock trailer. This trailer gets drug over stumps/rocks/spun 180 around the center axle in mud and on blacktop/chipped surfaces and concrete surfaces with full load and run at 75 mph legal speed limits all day long.

I would think a 215 would fit just fine, but it won't be G or H.
This would be a LT tire, which should work ok.

I know they make a 16" G rated tire and a 17.5" H rated tire....Not aware that they (Sailun), make a 15" tire...
