As you can see it involves A LOT of information on your manufacturing and quality processes. When you've attained this accreditation, you've pretty much proven that you're manufacturing a high quality product.

Jim indicated ISO/TS 16969.

Typo? - Guess that should have been ISO/TS 16949 in the "enjoyable reading" link??

Thanks buddy... it USE to be TS16969, till 1999, then re-written and became 16949.. I know all the criterium that is involved in the certication processing because we prepared for and had the audit every year..VERY THOURGH!! We passed certificationevery year I worked there, which was a little over 23 years. Anyone who achieves this certification is building a very high quality product.

I spent the last 23 years of my career at Continental Automotive.. was in the manufacturing of ABS systems and the last 16 years manufacturing brake calipers.. Some of our customers are Volvo, Mercedes Benz. BMW, GMC, Ford, Chrysler, Fiat, VW, Mazzerati, Honda, Subaru etc( may have missed a couple), as you would well know, if we had recalls or failures with our product, brake calipers, it wouldn't take long before you'd be out of business. We received quite a few accolades from more than several of these manufacturers for our high quality product.. which speaks volumes on our quality, and the company is booming.

There is a standard, an accreditation of one wants to have a great reputation for a great quality product that needs to be met if you want to compete world wide. It's ISO, TS16969 criteria. This is what a company tries to qualify for to prove there prouducton processes and quality controls process are very important, with safety being #1 of course.. You have auditors who come into your plant once a year and check out engineering processes, Training processes with everyone, from Plant manager to the worker, all training records, all machining and production processes, in our case, also plating processes AND ESPECIALLY QUALITY CONTROL CHECKS AND PROCESSES..It's carried out on all shifts with Supervisors, Quality Control Techs, Maintainence Techs and the operators.. questions asked randomly wherever the Auditor wants to go.. about assembly processes, quality processes, 5S, shop cleanliness and on.. VERY THOROUGH..

We have been TS 16969 accredited every year I worked there and IT IS A BIG DEAL.. Sailun tires has the exact same accreditation!! Back when we were having all the China made tire threads. Everyone, including myself were anti China made tires.. one day Sailun came up in a tire question, and I googled them and found out they met the same stringent audited crierium that my company also met... I was sold on them due to what I knew about TS 16969 requirements... and you HAVE TO EARN IT! I was promoting them before it was still the norm to condemn all China made tires.. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase Sailun tires as long as they have the TS 16969 accreditation... it speaks volumes for reliability and quality in a product.

They produce a high quality tire at a very affordable price, making it a great pick for a TT or 5th wheel tire.

All I can add is I bought into this accreditation business a few years ago. Based on NC Haulers wisdom a purchased a set of Sailun's. At the time they were less than 1/2 the price of the G614.
I have yet to hear a bad report from anyone actually using them.
Thanks Jim

I too have done the same thing. To date have never read one negative thing about the Sailuns. They are probably less then half the price now of the Goodyear G614's .

I had R250's on my last 12.5 GVWR 5er, and they were great, but if it were any heavier I would have bought the Sailun G tires.

Don't know about Goodyear, but I like their G and H rated tires. Just the ones I know about.
I agree with Chris also on his recommendation of tires in that weight rated range, they've proven themselves. Sailun produces a high quality tire with lots of great reviews and are priced super competively to make them quite desirable.

Thank you Lantley for your kind words,

I felt the same way Larry, and still on almost any tire made in China, BUT, knowing what MY company goes through year after year to be TS 16869 accredited, and knowing Sailun tires has done the same thing, I would not feel bad at all in highly recommending Sailun tires to be used on TT's and 5ers. and when I need to replace mine, IF Sailun is still accredited, I'll include them on my short list.
Can't speak to tires on an automobile.
