Slide issue

We have a very close friend who lost her husband in March and her son passed away yesterday. She needs to sell her 38' Sportster TH and Volvo semi TV. She can't get one of the slides in. I've heard there is a way to get it in manually. I would like to help her but, I don't have the smarts. Any advice would be appreciated. We live in the boonies.
