Slide won't come in

Looking for some HitchHiker help? We have a 2009 36' LS model W/3 slides. The big slid on the pass side won't come in, sounds like a shear pin may have broken is that possible. Has any one had this problem. If anyone could help that would great. At lease it's in the driveway.
  • Does the motor run. Will help determine which way to look, electrical or mechanical.
  • I had a similiar problem with a 2004 Mobile Suite. Needed new motor that moved slide and it was a chore to get off and on. You may have newer hydraulic system?
  • I've been having problems with the big slide, and I know it's time for me to buy new batteries. I'll bet that when they are installed my slide problem will be over.

What I do now is plug into the truck and run it at around 1500 rpms for about five minutes. Then my better half brings in the slide while I keep the rpms up. The truck alternator does a better job of quick charging than the converter does.

    Check your battery. :)
  • There are 2 shear pins.

Rail next to hydraulic piston rides on a main drive gear. Shaft from that drive gear assembly is pinned to a cross tube (shear pin #1) that is pinned to shaft on other rails drive gear assembly (shear pin #2)

To access.........you have to cut a three sided window in underbelly and fold it down (fold down towards front).
Cut window directly under where rail goes.

Is slide out moving at all......one side moving crooked? IF yes then main drive gear shear pin is OK and it's the other one.
If no movement......then main drive gear shear pin.

Hydraulic piston rearward.....main drive gear assembly rearward....slave drive assembly forward.
  • Your are sure that your battery has a good charge. Necessary for most slide operations, especially large slides.
  • Our big slide is hydraulic and I don't think it has a shear pin.

I know this will not help today but Monday call Nu-Wa. They have been real nice to us when we called.

  • I had a 2004 HHII and had slide problems. It was a breaker that was no good. Nuwa sent me a larger breaker to replace the bad one. It was in the basement by the hyd. pump, it is under a cover. There is one for each slide so you could switch and see if this solves the problem.
