Summer is Getting Closer

With the seasons starting to change I thought it about time to get things ready to roll for summer. This morning I went over to Discount tire and bought eight new Yokohama's for both my fiver and my TV. The tires on both had plenty of rubber left and no dry rot. The trailer tires were the original equipment tires and while they looked great they were nine years old. The tires on my truck looked good as well but they were six years old, so I thought it a good idea to go new all the way around. I didn't look forward to driving across west Texas in the summer heat with a loaded trailer held up by nine year old tires.

  • I can slide my hand down between the two tires with no problem. I agree that they do look a little close. I replaced the original tires that came on the trailer with the same size tire. They were close too.
  • Getting ready to inspect my own rig. Running to Amarillo for spring break, then get ready for Colorado end of May. Need everything A-1.
  • I once saw a new TT with tires so close I had to walk up to it (while owners were away) and put my fingers between them. They just barely fit!
    How close is too close?
  • Good for you on taking caution by replacing them! Nothing like a blowout to ruin the vacation. We just replaced ours last year so we're set this year.
  • I love your chocks. Practical and cheap! My kind of equipment! I have a set that looks almost like them!
  • They do look close. I suspect that I am out of alignment being a clenched fist on one side & three fingers on the other. Very accurate tools for measurement.

. Is this an elusion? So close together, and it appears not in synch with the fender opening.
  • Wow those are close. Mine are about 2.5" apart. If I went up to 16" rims and 225/75/16 Duravis R250 tires I'd be about 1/2" apart. Have you measured the gap?
  • Good idea...better to be safe than to be sorry.

It feels like summer has already hit Southern California, last weekend was in the 80s and it looks like this weekend will be as well.
