Survey: How often do you chock your wheels?

I was in a campground in Kansas that was as flat as a billiard table, and my neighbor had all four trailer wheels chocked front and back. I thought this was overkill and it prompted my to ask this question: When do you chock your wheels?

a) Every time without fail
b) Only if I am parked on a noticeable slope
c) Never

Personally, my answer is b.

I guess it would depend on what kind of chocks we're talking about. Roto chocks help keep the trailer from moving when walking inside, plus from rolling. Those little plastic things that fit underneath the tires don't do much for the vibrating.

I have a TT and I was in the "B" for decades until I was unhooking on my gravel completely level driveway (except for the divots in the gravel) one trip. When it came off the ball it rolled into the divots and off the blocks, luckily my feet weren't in the path. We also get in it for loading/unloading so the rocking can make it roll off. Now I block 1 front 1 back on both sides. It only takes a minute or so, so not much effort for safety.

I always chock. Especially after a memorable incident where I thought the 5er was level enough and when I pulled the lever, it rolled back.....

Always, and X chocks when leveled. It may be overkill, but it's just habit now.

A split of firewood between trailer wheels both sides. First on site and removed last when leaving.

Have to agree with this. We always chock from the "bump" to Unhitch until hitched again. Better safe than sorry because we forget!

Same here. Can't do any harm to chock every time and the habit is a good one to have.

Here is what I learned on this forum!

Chocks are to stop wheels from rolling, nothing else does when unhitched.
Stabilizers are to reduce motion, and are not jacks to level or lift.
X-chocks are to reduce motion also, not to stop the wheels from rolling.

Like always use the proper tools for the job at hand, and you'll less likely to get into trouble.

We are dealing with TONS of equipment here so be careful!
