Am heading there with the kids for the first time this Thanksgiving. I've never checked it out and I will have to park the rig myself (back in) since hubby is driving down later. How tight is the road?How is the dune access? Is it easy to find? Sometimes it has been a challenge to find the campground road (i.e. Honeyman)Thank you in advance!

Riley Ranch is great! Dune access is easy and clearly marked from the campground to the dunes but as with any dune access in this area you will need to pay attention to the surroundings or use GPS to find your way back to the access bridge. The road in and through the park is relatively narrow but one way so you should not have to contend with oncoming traffic. That said the sites are wide and if you have any experience with backing in you should be fine. We have never gone at peak season or holidays but I can imagine if you arrive during prime arrival hours the road in could be congested with others accessing their sites.What site are you in?

Power, water, and nice shower facilities too.heelers is 100% right, once your on the dunes it can be difficult finding your way back to the campground if your not real familiair with the entrance/exit.I look for the 2 bare trees, usually someone puts an orange flag on them, but its not always there.The access road to the dunes is well marked. Watch your speed though.Since you are coming from the north most likely i presume, you will pass through lakeside, then down to hauser. The RR campground entrance is just past the orange blinking light that marks the turn off to hauser. if you hit the weight scale on the southbound side you went too far.im in reedsport, so i can go by there anytime and check stuff for ya!

We are in B-1. We'll have the two older boys (22 & 23) and maybe the 14 year old. Dave and I are really looking forward to riding down there again! I'm not the world's worst backer-inner, but it may take me a few tries, especially after battling the south I-5 mess for Thanksgiving. (we won't talk about the my cussing and backing and cussing and backing and....at the KOA the last time at o dark thirty after driving for 10 hours for a 6 hour trip. I can't believe how many dirty looks I got the next day:o )My hubby has a backpack GPS (he reminded me to set it right when we hit the sand dunes, NOT at our campsite :S )I don't need stinking GPS I said - I rode all over Glamis without it. He just rolled his eyes and told me that was before my "senior moments" kicked in. Dave is a funny fellow.Anyway, some pics would be awesome, thank you.

yea, i think it may just be the BEST campground for dune access on the Oregon Coast.

I actually love the spot. We had a wide spot where we could unload the quads and then I parked the trailer (only took 3 tries!:B ) The spot is relatively private compared to some of the others and it is so wide, we had both pickups side by side next to the trailer. Since I always unhook, it is no problem.

I had to drive back sunday due to work, but the boys are having a great time. They said the sun, sand, and having hookups are awesome. I love the fact that it is WAY cheaper than the KOA.

I can't wait to head back Wednesday

We had an easy trip to the dunes. We arrived at Riley Ranch and the weather is gorgeous. It was 64° when we got here. Clean living the trailer was level within five minutes. All three of my boys are here, my father and stepmom are coming, and we get to spend Thanksgiving with my aunt uncle and cousins. This is a thanksgiving for the record books

Thanks for the video and pics! I'm going to see if they can put me in a longer spot but if they can't, it's okay. I unhook the trailer because we go visit family as well as ride over the weekend.

It looks like I will be taking the trailer down the weekend before and the big boys will be there all week (the lucky buggers are out of school all week!) That is so cool, because even though we'll take two vehicles down, I'll be able to zip down in the Mini on that Wednesday and not hassle with the trailer in the traffic (happy dance!)
