Test for Class A non cdl license in Pa

My truck f-350 and 5th wheel over has combined weight over 26001 and according to the dmv I need a Class A non cdl.I can't find any info on what the test will consist of so I can study, local center doesn't know, I called Harrisburg and they didn't know, she didn't have info on test for class a non cdl, then said to get a book on Class A for a cdl and study that!Has anyone in Pa taken this test and what does it consist of. They did say it would be a just a skills test no written test.
  • If within reasonable distance of a DMV, for down and tell them you want to take the test and talk to the person giving it, hopefully you'll get better information.

  • I took it last year in Greensburg pa. There is a painted rectangle on the parking lot and you are required to parallel park your truck and trailer in the space within 3 tries and a short trip out on the highway with a instructor .
you can go to the test lot and practice when they are closed. biggest problem I had was finding someone with a cdl or class A lic to take me for the test because showing up alone is in violation of the law same as a 16 year old showing up without licenced escort. fee was 5 dollars and they give you a verbal test about safety from the cdl book about following distance flare placement in an emergency braking on hills etc. so read the book .they will give you one when you get your learners permit.First step is go to a testing location and get a learners permit. good luck
