What seems to work for me, after backing into position I then put the truck into neutral with foot off the brake, then into park parking brake on. Lower front landing gear until weight is off, ie the truck is starting to rise up, and unhitch! Yes I put the blocks in front and back of the trailer but we are talking about unhitching. By putting the truck into neutral it takes the tension off the hitch enough so it can easily released. Good luck!
