Yours is coming ON as designed by Atwood.
Fault occurred.......ie: ECO Opened (high temp t-stat---180*F) Because same set of t-stats is used this occurs on gas or electric.
Also fault light will come on when:
Gas doesn't ignite (3 tries) or thermal fuse blows.

FYI
Normal t-stat------preset to open at 140*F
ECO t-stat---------preset to open at 180*F
T&P Relief valve---preset to open at 210*F/150 psi resets when pressure drops below 125#

OPs light is coming ON when turning heating source on and staying on.....this is unusual for Atwood.

It is a 6 gallon WH using a 160*F t-stat and a 'mixing' valve so that 130*F water is output (higher t-stat setting so output water is 'stretched'----making it the equivalent of 9 gallon).

Regardless......wiring scheme from Atwood has 'Fault' Light only getting power when fault occurs (via circuit board which is same for ALL Atwood models after 2004)

Suspect RV mfg. has changed wiring.otherwise light shouldn't be on when operating. :H

mine is on all the time when using either gas or electric

Mine stays on either when I use gas or electricity. No problem.

if its the same suburban setup as my colorado the lit switch will be on any time you turn the electric side on. the switch for the gas will also light up any time you have it activated....but theres a small red led that will light up when you first switch the gas on....but will go out once it ignites. Its the DSI fault light I believe.

Some RV mfg. have controls wired so light is ON when operating.

Typically on Suburban the light would come on then go out when operating and come back on if a 'fault' occurs

Typically on Atwood....light only comes on when 'fault' occurs

If it is ON and heats/controls on gas and electric OK.......then probably will indicate 'fault' if light goes out
