Have you ever had to use a extension to your OEM cord to hook up to power. My old 5th wheel (30 amp) on a few occasions to reach power had to use a extension. Not sure how long the OEM was but just guessing around 25'.My new one has a 35' OEM so thinking I shouldn't need one.

I made a 50 amp extension cord instead of buying one, and have used it numerous times. I also carry three 30 amp extension cords since we don't have to be plugged into 50 amp service to run what we need.

Yes. Buy another section of the correct 50a cord. I found one on Ebay. Only had to use it once, but good insurance for those unique situations. I bought a 50' section.

All our previous campers were 30 amp and I have several 30 amp extension cords, enough to reach 120 feet. 2 - One 50 footer and three 25 footers.

When we got the 5er last September, it was 50 amp. So, I made sure I had the 30 to 50 amp adapter (dogbone) in the event I ever had to reach longer than my 50 amp cord could go. I've used the dogbone adapter a couple times, not because of distance, but because the campsite was not a 50 amp. I've not tried using the original 30 amp cords yet. So far, everywhere we've been the 50 amp has reached.

The only thing when using the 30 amp service, is the fact we have to revert back to carefully monitoring power management in the 5er. A few simple steps and we've never had any problems, just like in the 30 amp travel trailers we had. Step 1: flip the water heater to gas an off electric. Step 2: run only 1 air conditioner. Step 3: if running the microwave, turn off the air conditioner first. Step 4: If using an electric skillet or an electric griddle, plug into shore power with a 15/20 amp extension cord and just don't plug into the camper. These steps work well when using 30 amp. But we sure do enjoy the 50 amp and not having to monitor what we are doing.

So, meanwhile, I still carry all that 30 amp cord with us. We just never know when we'll be in a campsite that's designed very different. In Indiana, the unexpected is the expected!

Someday, I hope to acquire a 50 amp extension cord. But I'm not willing to pay the bucks for one yet. I hoping I may find one at a yard sale or garage sale someday.

I have a 50 amp extension cord that I have used a few times. I also have 2 extension cords for a 30 amp hookup, which I will be using next month in a Provincial campground, where the hook up is supposedly 20 meters away( Just over 60 feet). If I would have looked more closely I should have reserved the site right next door where the hookup is only 5 meters(approx. 15 feet) away. I had just cancelled the original reservation to get the present one so I wasn't about to pay cancellations fees twice.

After a trip where I had to situate my trailer in a less than ideal location 2 different times in order to reach the power pole, I got an extension and have carried it ever since. Don't underestimate the wide range of possible layouts at various RV parks. If you want to be sure you can put your trailer exactly where you want it, get an extension. I don't use mine a lot, but still have to on occasion, on about a once every 2 or 3 year frequency.

I carry an extension and have used it once. I believe most OEMs are 35'.
