Toy Hauler? For extra room, but no toys to haul?

Well I'm a newbie with the itch to upgrade from my 24' HTT (need more space, different beds, kids friends etc). Thought maybe a TT or FW with bunkhouse would be nice. But was out looking today and the sales guy say "what about a toy hauler". Would I be crazy to get a toy hauler wo toys? Any good recommendations for this? Like the extra beds and room for kids/dog. Would like to keep it around 10k lbs and under 35'. If I do upgrade will need new TV, so that's not an issue (probable 350,3500).

Then you're golden, lol. If you only plan to get a golf cart, then one with a 10 or 12 foot garage should work for ya. With our Fuzion, half the time we roll the carpet out in the garage, and hit the road like some of the other guys have said. We don't always take the toys. A lot of fun options to choose from. Just take your time and weigh all your options. No need to rush on making a hasty decision.

If in the future, you decide to buy a 4 seater UTV, then you're gonna need that room to fit them. I think a 12' garage would fit some of the 4 seater UTVs too,...depending on the make and model. Hmmm...the pole in the back...i hadnt thought of that. I was going to throw a small chest freezer in to add more storage for when staying put more than a few days but I like your thinking...that and the kegerator....

Golf cart in the future as well, probably some kayaks, kids bikes, etc.

I know the OP was a bit older thread, but one thing no one has mentioned yet is being able to get the 5.5kw gen set standard on most of these for dry camping. I love the idea of setting it up anywhere and having all you need, so again, even if no toys, its self contained.

We also just put the 2nd AC in the garage as planning on kids sleeping there (plus in the back mayby lowers pin weight a bit), with ducted heat. It seems like a flexible unit you can buy once, and no matter what changes it would still be 100% useable...no need to get a different unit.

Not crazy at all. THat's the great thing about toy haulers, is the extra space they offer. Bigger ones have a separate garage, which can become the kids play area, bedroom, etc.

I love my toyhauler. When the Grandkids travel with me, its their room. They have a bathroom,and the drop down beds and convert able dinette. I also have my washer/dryer combo, my ice machine, and my kegerator mounted in the garage. When I travel to motorcycle rally, I can carry my Heritage Classic with me and when parked use the patio option complete with Stripper pole for entertainment.

We just traded our 5th wheel for a toy hauler to haul our motorcycle. Our's has the ramp patio and that is the one feature that our family and friends absolutely love. We were at the lake for a few days and sitting on the rear patio and overlooking the lake was awesome. I'll never go back to a 5th wheel for this one feature.

Well, I'm back! But this time we are serious. Just purchased the TV yesterday. And waiting a year paid off, got a loaded Lariat for less than what I was getting an XLT for last year(almost 10K off MSRP).



Now to go TH shopping (and sell the Hybrid)! Want to be safe with my weights, so need to spend some time on the Towing forum!

I love reading these posts because everyone uses them for something different. Many of the people who don't haul the typical toys with them have some really cool applications. I've used mine on searches and dog training. I had 8 dogs in there for several days all in crates and it was so easy to walk them up and down the ramp to train one after the other. All of my gear is held in there and it keeps the living space clean and clutter free.

I just started fulltiming in a Work and Play 34FK. Specifically wanted the function of the TH layout and the W&P for the weight hauling capacity. Probably won't have any toys back there, but it is a dandy sound studio for my keyboards...

I agree, toys or no toys a TH is the way to go. I'm looking at a FW garage model, I'm wanting a nice media room when the toys are unloaded.

We just have one dog, I that's one of the biggest reasons for the TH, let him and the boys stay back there. We have a Mal by the way 🙂

We have a Voltage 3798 toyhauler wih no toys! Our last unit was a KZ Inferno toyhauler..again...no toys! We upgraded to the toyhauler from a quad bunkhouse because we wanted more room. Two adults, four kids, and two St. Bernards. We use the garage as a family room (sliding glass doors from salon area), with the deck dropped, it is awesome. Gives us room to sleep 10, two queen size happy jac beds in garage, queen size loft, king size master, and queen air matress on couch.
